I don't know if it's true, because it's the internet and you can't trust anything. But the dude had 7 no-hitters. That's the stat everyone knows. What I didn't know, is that Ryan had 5 more no-hitters that were finally broken up in the 9th inning.

That's pretty freaking crazy.

Looked like a headlock uppercut throat punch. Not sure I've ever seen that combination in one punch.

Ryan had 12 career 1 hitters & 18 career 2 hitters. When he was on, he was damn tough to hit.

GOAT pitcher

I was at his record breaking 5th no hitter in the Astrodome.

Was also at the Rangers game the night BEFORE he beat Ventura’s arse. Was pissed I didn’t get to see it in person.

Once sat 3rd row behind home plate when he pitched. Could hear his grunt after every pop of the catcher’s mitt. I’ll never forget that experience.

He also threw 13 innings of a 15-inning game, which totaled 235 pitches for him.

Nolan Ryan threw 235 pitches over 13 innings for the Angels against the Red Sox. Luis Tiant of Boston pitched into the 15th inning, where the Angels finally won 4-3. He was the complete game loser in a game that went into the 15th inning.

I stood behind home plate at a Montreal Expos game and watched Randy Johnson pitch for a couple of innings in 2002. The Big Unit was frightening from that angle. Leering at the batter and bumping 100MPH with the fastball.

I think he’s tied with bob feller for most 1 hitters too.

Nice to see a real fight in baseball once in a while instead of the usual bench clearing run to the mound and shout at each other.

Fun fact, he has also been charged 9 times by the batters while pitching.
