Speaking to NFL Network on Tuesday, Cousins said that he injured his shoulder against the Saints and never could get it right after that.

Cousins threw 1 touchdown and nine interceptions from that point on. NFL network reporting that Weeks 12-17 the Falcons did not list him on the injury report.

The Falcons already forfeited a pick and were fined when Cousins confirmed that they tampered.

NFL isn’t really going to care if he ended up playing.

Plenty of guys that are banged up and not on the injury report. Most will tell you that’s the reason why their performance dipped and most are lying to themselves

If you are a full participant in practice do you have to be listed on the injury report?

He may have been “injured” but nothing I’ve seen indicates they should lose a pick or they broke any rules

Apparently yes, but seems like something that gets a light slap on the risk the handful of times it’s happened and in those cases the player either didn’t play or played very limited. Happened to a few teams recently and they got a light fine for it.

Given Cousins played like a month of full games after that and was benched for performance, the NFL isn’t going to be motivated to care much here

Brees' knee started bothering him last Sunday after he took a hit from Falcons defensive end John Abraham, who tackled the quarterback during a fourth-down pass to Jeremy Shockey to extend a game-tying drive.

Abraham launched his helmet right into Brees’ knee. I guess the Saints are even now.

Have seen the argument about competitive balance as teams may game plan the defense differently had they known about Cousin' injury. But looking at their schedule, the only one with a gripe would be the Raiders went 1-3 after that, but I am sure they are ok with their slightly higher draft slot.

Based on precedent that seems to fall in the bounds of just normal gamesmanship. These rules are really more about the gambling aspect than competitive advantage.

They may get a small fine, but this is nowhere near enough of a violation to get picks taken

Oh you mean the team that blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl?

Yet another notch in the belt that Blank is fricking clueless and needs to sell the team.

You guys believe me about him now? He's one of the worst owners in the NFL.

Remember how you thought the Cousins signing would put the Falcons into contender territory and that he wasn’t going to be another Russell Wilson type signing? “Blank wants to win now”

This shows how bad the Falcons fricked up this whole situation.

If they wanted to bench Cousins and test-drive Penix without any real questions, all they had to do was say Cousins was say Cousins was hurt. They could have benched him two games or IR'd him and either way, after X number of games, they could've made a decision from there that everyone would've been behind, based on Penix's play.

Never underestimate the Falcons franchise ability to frick things up. It's embedded in their DNA

Give him credit. His agent is the best contract negotiator in the history of the NFL. He could sell beachfront property in a swamp.

I did and I'll eat my crow on it.

I was right about Russell.

The injury report is all about gambling. Even before gambling on the NFL became legal in many places. Having inside information on injuries and hiding injuries plays a big role in gambling on NFL games.
