Could non playoff bowl games be converted to an NIT-like playoff?

May be grasping for straws here but just trying to figure out how to make them relevant again.

It’s a bit much to ask middling teams who are losing players to play multiple post-season games.

So your solution to 1 ultimately meaningless game is to have teams play multiple meaningless games?

The secondary bowls were never relevant. The difference is the opt out phenomenon.

That would be sadder than just playing in the who gives a shite bowl

Just get rid of them already.

I would enjoy watching that. More football the better.

Convert the bowl games to a week zero game. Other than that, it’s over.

The NIT is more irrelevant than non-playoff bowls.

I just assume that people who constantly complain about wanting bowl games to disappear are gay. Where is the problem with having a football game to watch almost every night for most of December? If you don't want to watch it, simply don't watch.

They would have to be playing for money, sorta like the Players Era tourney in college basketball

Why would you want to play someone from the Big 12 or SEC to start your season when you can schedule FAU or Tulsa? It's stupid to play a game that could ruin your playoff chances in Week 1 if you're not an elite team already

…because you weren’t a playoff team the previous year, and you are playing another team who wasn’t a playoff team…and presumably you want the small jump you get for winning a week 0 game.

We can’t even get players to commit to one of these meaningless bowl games.

But you could just schedule Texas Southern and get a win before your conference play. Because that's what really matters. Non-conference games aren't really meaningful

Stopping the practice of unlimited transfers would be the first step towards this goal, why wouldn't players want more game film for NFL scouts.
