I'd go. With the hispanuc population, many would be surprised at how popular MLS in nola would be

And the reason for this is their stupid decision to leave the Cotton Bowl and move to the suburbs.
I really wish Frisco would get their heads out of their asses and join the DART line. It would be soooo much easier to get up there for game days if I didn't have to either fight through tollway traffic or take the long way on Coit.

If they play at Tulane's new Yulman Stadium maybe. The stadium would be perfect but the parking would be an issue. There are more soccer fans in the greater NOLA area than most people realize.

Again, people keep saying this, but it doesn't mean anything. The people going to MLS games are overwhelmingly white, of European ancestry. Just because someone likes soccer doesn't mean they're going to be a fan of the team, pay to go to a game, pay to go to multiple games, etc.
Moreover, some hispanic populations are not big on soccer anyways. People always bring this up when it comes to Miami, but most hispanics in Miami are Cuban. They don't care about soccer.
I'm not saying it wouldn't/couldn't work. I just think some people are out of touch with what it would take for it to be a success.

I think an MLS team playing in Tulane's new football stadium would be pretty awesome.

NHL in NOLA before MLS
I think the NHL has learned its lesson on putting teams in soutehrn cities.

Could an MLS Expansion Team work in New Orleans?
If the population growth continues in 10-20 years NOLA could support a NFL, NBA, and MLS (I wish it was MLB but that will NEVER happen ).

Exactly. I wonder how many people know that there's an MLS club in Southern California, that has an entire roster of Hispanics and is aimed entirely at a Hispanic audience, yet, they have the WORST attendance/support in MLS. It doesn't mean shite. Most Hispanics in this country care about Liga MX and La Liga, and not much else.

MLB would just be so and no soccer wouldn't work out for very long

Does an MLS team work anywhere besides the northwest?

What if this MLS team becomes elite
Posted on 2/3/14 at 5:14 pm to dawgfan24348
I mean I don't know anything about the MLS, but I would imagine it would take a while for an expansion team to become any good. Maybe if they relocated and had a core of solid players, but usually expansion teams suck for a while. And I don't know if we would even support an elite team. Braves still struggle at filling the place more than a few times a year(given, that's a 53k person stadium).
But I really don't know anything about the MLS. Like even what months they play, what days they play, how many home games they'd have a year, anything. Just my guesses.
And FWIW I'd probably go to one game to check it out but I wouldn't count myself as one who would go very often.

Friendly matches begin in February and the regular season runs March-October. Games are usually played on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. There's about 7 days between each game
ETA: I was never a big soccer fan but then I moved up here and got hooked, it really is fun. The Sounders average more in attendance than the Mariners

Seriously whats the deal with this? A DART rail between Downtown and Frisco with stops in Plano, Addison, and the Galleria seems like a no-brainer. Do the Park Cities put a stop on it whenever it comes up?

usually the cities that say no to DART are run by lily white crackers who fear the "bad element" that a rail line might bring in.
that or certain business owners in the area stand to gain from big arse parking lots that they own like in Arlington where the Cowboys, Rangers, and Six Flags own acres of paid paved desert parking.
