DII plays their championship game at a high school football field?

I mean... it's basically a small college football stadium being used by high schools

ETA: the DII Final has been played at McKinney ISD Stadium since 2018

before that it was at a MLS stadium (like the FCS Championship will be)... from 2014-2017 it was at Sporting KC Park/Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas

ETA2: and before that... from 1986 - 2013 it was played on the University of North Alabama campus in Florence, Ala.

I’ve read some rumors that McNeese’s next head coach is down to Tim Leger (ULL Asst.), Ferris St. HC, or Valdosta St. HC

NDSU is just a fricking machine. Even more dominant than Bama over the last decade.

my immediate question... will the NCAA take away this national championship from Mary Hardin-Baylor like they did the last one UMHB won like 5 years ago... for a coach letting a student borrow his vehicle for like a day to get to class if I remember correctly

How that decision was made and upheld still blows my mind. If I recall, it was a POS car too. It wasn’t exactly some tricked out truck the kid was rolling around in.

Refreshing to tune in to some of these games. In the era of the portal and NIL, it’s nice to see student-athletes play some football for their teammates and the name on the front of the uniform.

The NAIA one is a crappy HS stadium if I remember the picture right. it’d be like them having a national title at Franklin Senior High

I live in Belton/Temple (where UMHB is located) and have a lot of friends in the program.

I was literally a 10 year old Subaru. Numerous other students said that they had used his car as well.

I could walk up to Fredenburg and ask to use his car and he would say yes and only I’ve met him once or twice.

Most people disregard the vacated national championship around here. Every single D1 program does something worse 10x a day.

Yep, it’s the home stadium for Northern Durham HS and DII HBCU Shaw (which is actually located in downtown Raleigh but has no stadium of its own)

I played pop Warner games in that stadium growing up…very odd selection for a college national championship. Hell, there’s only one NAIA football school in the state and hardly any on the east coast

The game was 17-16 or something at the half.

UMHB scored on almost every possession in the second.

Naia always goes to the cheapest destination. I coached at a NAIA in Kansas and the national title locations are always in random places. Cross country last year was in Ceder Rapids, indoor track is in Brookings, SD (those two make sense due to the amount of NAIA’s in the Midwest), and then they decide to have fricking outdoor track in gulf shores in the middle of may. They have the marathon as a part of it and there’s always a few people that end up in the hospital from fricking heat exhaustion. It’s incredibly stupid.

Fun fact: Ferris St QB Jared Bernhardt is an all american D1 mlax player & Tewarraton winner (the Heisman of lacrosse) from Univ. Of Maryland.
