I don't understand the hate on Atlantic Station. It's actually really nice. Good stores, ok restaurants, nice theater, everything walkable, underground parking...I really don't get it. Is it the high schoolers that swarm it on weekends? It's not all that bad. It's definitely more commercial than a Virginia Highlands, or what not, but that's not what these super commercial pro sports franchises are going for.

shite, they had the final four pregame shows there a few years back. And the Atlanta Open, etc.

I live here in AS and I agree. There's very little crime, it's very walkable, and there's easy access to the interstate. Not to mention that we have a Target and Publix within two blocks of each other so we rarely have to drive anywhere with the AS Shuttle connecting us to Arts Center Station.

The Atlanta Open is going to be here every year. The courts are permanent. College Gameday is over here when it comes to Atlanta too.

You can sleep on my couch if you pay in beer.

Good beer, not Bud Light.

Were opening an ATL thread bar.

Bar opens when lineups are released everyday.

You clearly haven't seen 75 north on a weekday afternoon.

75N traffic typically starts right at Cumberland which they will most likely make a braves exit. At worse it's backed up to west paces which is an exit away.

North side,41,Atlanta rd is how people will bypass the interstates coming from buckhead.

From Marietta, went to GT, I know a thing or two about 75.

That's a good concept. I'd hit it up... assuming that they run a MARTA line up there. MARTA is Smarta.

The hate on AS typically comes from people who haven't been there in a couple years. Crime was real bad at first and the fricked up with the section 5 housing. However the owners have done a lot of really good things like attracting the right restaurants and stores to tone down the riff raff. It is night and day compared to where it was 4 years ago. **section8

I hope they do too. Will be interesting to follow the details as they get released. Still a lot to be answered.

Yeah, I'm not sure how it was four years ago. We lived down on Ponce before we moved here and this is one of the safest areas in the city now. They do have a large security presence that helps a lot, I'm sure.

I don't think that any place over here takes section 8 anymore. If they do, they don't advertise it. There's a small problem with a few wanna be rappers living over in the Atlantic, but other than that it's pretty chill.

Fwiw chuck and chernoff had the braves vp of marketing on the radio and asked him about Marta. Obviously he is going to be very vague and not give specifics but it didn't sound very promising that they were looking into Marta as a solution.

Why not just move them to a more deserving MLB market like New Orleans?

Because you don't have the population to support three pro teams?

The whole concept of AS was misguided from the start and then you add the corruption, the low income housing "mandate, the horrible idea of "creating" a neighborhood in the middle of the city was an idea that NEVER works in Atlanta.

Hell, look at the west midtown area 5 mins away. The place is booming with new restaurants and developments. I can't think of one "destination bar restaurant in AS.

The place is teaming with Clayton and DeKalb co tags during the weekend with folks cruising thank God they hang out there and don't come to my neighborhood 5 mins away...It's right off the downtown connector so the place invites trouble. No thanks but you can get a dirt cheap condo there...I really wish the place would implode or just go away. It's not helped the surrounding area at all

The Braves are full of shite on any plans for a MARTA option, and always have been going back to the original plans for a line to AFCS back in the 70s. Make no mistake, this is all about the Braves fleecing Cobb taxpayers in footing 2/3 the cost of this project.

I live here and I'm not aware of ANY low income housing that is here now.

Worked there for a while. It's not all that impressive.

There are decent restaurants here, and if we don't want them, we can just take the shuttle two minutes over to Peachtree.

Any place with a shopping district in the city of Atlanta is going to have DeKalb and Clayton County tags along with a plethora of others on the weekends. What the hell else is there to do in those counties?

Wrong. I've run at all hours of the night and never experienced any trouble in this neighborhood. I've never even felt threatened. My building is full of students and young professionals for the most part, as are most here.

Well, then don't come to this neighborhood?
