Superbowl is more geared towards entertaining non-football fans than serious football fans.

Mine was the 87 SB. Mom is a Denver native so I naturally claimed the Skins as my team after the game. 91 cemented things.

I was (and still am) a huge Redskins fan. I was only 13 at the time and was watching the game but when they fell behind 10-0 I started getting pissed off. My friend and I decided to walk to the pizza place up the street and get something to eat. When we got back it was 35-10.

Is there a reason they are playing Dixie?
after the Dallas Texans folded in 1952 - the Redskins were the only team South of the Mason-Dixon - and Marshall was against the NFL having another team share that market -
until Clint Murchison Jr acquired the copy write to Washington's fight song - and forced Marshall to agree to approve the Dallas Cowboys to be established in 1960 -
quote:
Marshall had a falling out with the Redskins band leader Barnee Breeskin, who had written the music to the Redskins fight song "Hail to the Redskins", and Marshall's wife had penned the lyrics. Breeskin owned the rights to the song and was aware of Murchison's plight to get an NFL franchise. Angry with Marshall, Breeskin approached Murchison's attorney to sell him the rights to the song before the expansion vote in 1959: Murchison subsequently purchased "Hail to the Redskins" for $2,500

Uh huh. Look at that Raiders team. They were still the old Raiders.
