Excited about Didi :)

He's better than the shite we've trotted out there the last few seasons (not named Jeter) but I'm kinda meh. Maybe it's Jeter retiring but I'm finding it hard to be excited about this team. Jeter is gone and alex is back.

I think with pitching staff, this team can win 86 or 87 games.

If CC can get his shite together. Crazy to think he may not even be our clear cut #3 this year.

Ehhhh maybe not this year but the Rays still have

Cobb
Smyly
Archer
Odorizzi

And Matt Moore will be back from TJ in June.

Those are very solid young cost controlled players, not hard to get a couple of bats around Longoria and contend as soon as next year.

We'll see.

No Nova till June
Tanaka I hope the rest helped but I think he should have opted for surgery
CC is done
Pineda if healthy would be great
Warren/Phelps decent back end guys

You know your rotation is in trouble when you pray for a 40 year old Hiroki Kuroda to come back

IDK, a lot of people are pretty high on Miley as a 2/3. Wood regressed big time last season so Im not sure he has too much value.

I thought Valbuena would be traded to a contender last season. Not sure if anyone moves on him in the offseason

I wondered why they paid Miller, they would be better off going total rebuild but with contracts on the books they have to at least try. Which is why I think they overpay for Max or Shields

They have a solid Baltimore, an improved Boston, a solid Toronto, and an "oh frick, we actually have to play during Jeter's victory lap?!" Yankees team that fricked around and won 84 games last season to deal with.

They caught fire for a couple years but I don't see them being serious players in the race, especially sans Maddon.

Sucked to lose McCarthy, but the Yankees didn't need to pay him that much money (sorry if he reads this).

Having Sabathia as your 4th starter to eat up innings is still not bad.

Tanaka, Nova, Pineda is a solid top 3. Obviously, gotta stay healthy. But the Yanks have had a makeshift rotation the majority of the last two years and have still managed to have a good team ERA.

They'll be alright. Likely not a playoff team. I do think that there will be less pressure this year. I think not having the Jeter circus will lighten things up. Tex and A-Rod can be league average. Yes, it's a little discouraging that we only have two good players in the lineup (Gardner, Ellsbury), but there's still some potential. I mean, these guys are former all-stars right? It can't be as bad as last year.

I like Young as a DH against lefties. Gotta get Beltran out of right field, though.

I think this is the year they finally realize money can't buy a pennant and hold what they have. Get rid of fricktard (arod) and move on next offseason. Maybe even wait until after 2016. Tex, CC and Beltran come off the books for a cool $63-million.

The focus now is on Headley. I really think that's the only "big move" they'll make.

I don't think he's untouchable just that it will take a package of blue chip prospects to pry him loose. The Rays did extremely well locking him up long term. For a team that can't afford to spend big money per se, it just makes him that much more important to them.

Rotation has been fine with no names the last two years.

Shane Greene is gone, and he was one of those guys last year, but still. I think this team can be okay.

I'm almost more excited that Jeter is gone. I love him. Favorite player ever and always will be. It'll be extremely weird. Just the other day, I was asking myself who would play 2nd and 3rd, not even thinking about short because i'm trained to know that Jeter will be there. But it's kind of a fresh start at the same time. It'll be cool once A-Rod, Tex, and Beltran are gone and we get to see this team grow.

This team could be very good in 2017. If the front office is competent.

CC isn't even a good #4 anymore, his ERA continues to climb 4.78, 5.28, and now 33 coming off an injury plagued season. I'm hoping for a 4.50 era out of him and 150 innings.
Nova won't be ready till June
Pineda I expect to make 25-28 starts
Tanaka I think he will need surgery

2017 is the year.

That's obviously the key to the whole season.

But still, LOOK at these numbers...

David Phelps started 17 games.
Shane Greene started 14 games.
Vidal Nuno started 14 games.
Chase Whitley started 12 games.
Chris Capuano started 12 games.

Obviously, B-Mac is a league above the guys I just named, but he started 14 games. And he certainly wasn't in the beginning plan for the Yankees last season.

They still managed to have a team ERA in the middle of the pack.

I think they'll be fine. Once again, it'll be all about hitting.

I thought that about my Rangers last season too.

They could very well be alright... but I do think they go get an arm.

Lol Jon, what Max said is true I'm sure, he's a diehard Cards fan from STL, but we aren't making a run at him, maybe if we needed a starter or ace.

Especially with us about to lock Lynn up this winter.

I just think this is the year the "pray to the pitching gods" strategy doesn't work.

Colon
Garcia
Phelps
BMac
Kuroda
Aging Andy

All those guys just happened to catch fire in NY. I don't see it keeping up but then again I haven't seen it working for the last 4 years and it has.
