BREAKING: College Football is expected to add 3 new things, @RossDellenger reports??

• Helmet communication
• Tablets on sideline/halftime
• 2-minute warning

quote:

After meetings this week, college leaders are expected to finalize on Friday recommendations to adopt the long-expected player-to-coach helmet comms system; use of tablets on sideline/halftime; and a 2-minute warning, sources tell @YahooSports.

quote:

The helmet communications system is, perhaps, the most significant technological change in recent college sports history. The concept will mirror the NFL. Only one member of each team can be equipped with a listening device in his helmet, and the device’s capabilities end at the 15-second mark of the play clock — a mandatory cut-off time that the NFL also uses.

Electronic tablets would be able to be used on the sideline and in the halftime locker room to review in-game video replays.

A break at the two-minute mark of each half is expected to also be part of the recommendation, something officials are referring to as a “two-minute timeout.” The break will operate in a similar capacity to the NFL’s “two-minute warning.”

What’s the point of the 2 minute warning? NFL should get rid of it

To let officials know when to take over the game.

Basically an extra timeout to help teams that are behind.

Surely the addition of a two minute mark timeout will mean 1 less media timeout right?

I’d have liked to introduce the CFB regulators to the phrase “leave well enough alone” about 15 years ago

at least the NFL knows how to fit a game into a 3 hour window

I can't wait to have 8 games on TV and all of them showing the same Dr Pepper ad

When the clock stops on every first down, you don't need a 2 Min warning.

NFL does it because there is no clock stoppages on 1st downs at end of half/game, so it gives a team one more chance to stop the clock.

It is completely unneeded in college football. If you are too dumb to keep at least one TO in the 2nd half, you're a total dumbass and shouldn't be a head CFB coach anyway.

Is someone consoling Brent Venables now that he won’t be able to steal signs anymore?

clock doesnt stop on first down anymore. unless its inside 2 minutes. which, somehow, in my mind, makes this even dumber.

Until people stop watching, you can expect more ruination of the sport through unnecessary changes

How is a qb going to signal plays to the other 10 players on the field?

An earpiece to the qb doesn’t fix the issue of sign stealing. If you want to stop sign stealing, you have to huddle. College teams don’t huddle. NFL teams huddle.

I wouldn’t mind the two minute warning as much if I didn’t feel like it was due to them trying to make more $ from commercials.
