In Detroit for the Detroit Jazz Festival and am grabbing a Tigers game. Nice stadium.

Whole downtown area there is really nice.

Moderately interesting fact: I think it’s the only city where you can see the stadiums / arenas of all 4 major sports while standing on the same street corner (not at the same time, but if you rotate 180 degrees).
(Pistons/Wings also share an arena of course, which helps.)
ETA: I think Philly too, but they basically have a distinct “sports district” of parking lots and some sports bars in South Philly, which doesn’t feel as legit as integrating it into either downtown or an actual neighborhood.

Yes it is. Woodward, Campus Martius Park, Hart Plaza, and Belle Ille is nice. Belle Isle got hit with a tornado and my friend and I drove through it and all the trees were destroyed. Sad sight to see. Went and grabbed an American Coney. American Coney > Lafayette Coney. If anyone disagrees, they can fight me.

The city has done a helluva job turning that area around.

Crazy, because the Lions were in Pontiac, Pistons were in Auburn Hills, and the Wings were closer to Hart Plaza on Jefferson

4 billionaire families trying to top each other certainly helps.

Comerica is an amazing ballpark. Concourse flows well and you can pretty much see the field from anywhere. It’s a classic. Downtown areas has come a long way the last decade too. I’m a Tigers fan so I am a little bias but I’ve been to several other parks and they aren’t as nice.

I visited Detroit 2 years ago in the spring. Was really impressed with how much I liked it. It wasn't the desolate shithole wasteland I was led to believe.

Like NOLA, dont venture to far out.....tough city.

One of the top stadiums i have visited. Maybe the largest stadium footprint of any i have been in. Great views from almost anywhere and all angles. They basically created dozens of unique fan zones all along the concourses which is a nice departure from typical stadium design. The statues in The OF are brilliant and views of downtown beautifully done.

Most outsiders would be shocked how nice the downtown is now.
That said, You can also find plenty of other areas that are still bout it bout it
I mean real bad

Where were you in the city?
The neighborhoods outside of the core are a lost cause.

A lot of people here (see poliboard) assume every place they've never been is a shithole.

Was there in June. Great park and the downtown area was very nice and walkable. Ate some of the best fried chicken of my life at Fixins.
