know clemson has the benefit against playing in a conference that barely qualifies as 1A ball, but are they really the 4th best team? Did they figure out their QB situation?

Adam Gorney - Teams with most stars returning

Clemson’s returning defense is stacked. Best defense line in college that will rival their 2018 DL. The rest of the defense is littered with 5 stars. Lots of talent AND experience returning from last year. I expect Clemson to have a top 3 defense.

Offense - biggest question mark is DJU. Reports are that he has slimmed down, losing 20 plus pounds. Clemson’s O was decimated by injuries last year, so they played a ton of young and inexperienced guys. Those guys got experience, plus their injured WRs have now gotten healthy. Jury is out on Clemson offense, but they certainly can’t be worse than last year.

Phil Steele has Clemson returning to CFP. I know it’s the ACC, but ACC has probably the best collection of returning QBs in a league. Games against ND in Nov on the road, Miami ( who has a great young QB), and NCState, will all be tough. But I think Clemson rebounds, loses, at most, 1 regular season game and returns to playoff.

what makes you feel this way outside of the fact that we simply went 8-4 last year

From an outsider's perspective, it seems like A&M will have roughly the same caliber team as last year with some elite freshmen sprinkled in. Do the freshmen win any games for A&M in 2022?

Losses to State, OM, Arky, and LSU in 2021...all 4 teams will be better or as good as they were last year. You can see why that #7 ranking looks shaky to non-aggies. That's going 10-2.

Let's start out by saying you have no shot at winning in Tuscaloosa this year. I've seen nothing from Jimbo's A&M program that would indicate the 2022 aggies going 7-1 against Miami, Arky, at State, at South Carolina, Ole Miss, Florida, at Auburn, LSU.

Who the hell would put Texas Failure To Launch at #7? They are just trolling Aggie fans at this point on behalf of Lord Saban to make the collapse more painful for Aggots, right?

He should have been worth negative stars last season sadly for them. He was really bad

What exactly is this based on? ND hasn't won anything of consequence in 34 years. Hasn't won a meaningful Bowl game since the early 1990's.

They’ve finished in the top 5 two out of the last four seasons I believe.

Their returning production number isn't significant either. If you look at their schedule, there are seven games they have no shot of losing. Their season comes down to at Ohio Stae, at UNC, BYU in Vegas, Clemson, and at USC. I wouldn't be shocked if they managed to go 3-2 there. A successful season probably comes down to the Clemson game in South Bend.

Is the chicken tender guy throwing NIL money at LSU players/candidates?

I watched the episode of tree house builders, and they built a big one in his back yard, and i could of sworn he was wearing an lsu shirt, and the such.

so he throwing that $$$ around?

Ohio State

Every
year.

The fact that these polls always have to include a midwest team near the top in order to sell clicks and subscriptions should tell you something.

But Ohio State is actually top-5 good this year.

Their defense has been suspect the last few years, but everyone agrees that they have the offensive weapons to keep up with the best in the South.

I do agree that this top-10 mostly reads like a "We don't really know how good any of these teams are, but here's some familiar names to fill the slots."

Since the top 3 is pretty normal for the last few years, the only arguments start at 4

Lol, Ohio State fans already acting like they’re part of some Big 3. The top 3 being pretty normal for the last few years lulz? Not if it doesn’t include Clemson it isn’t normal.

Those are the top 3 teams for this year, but folks act like it’s 3 clearly better teams when in reality it’s Bama, and then Ohio State and UGA are closer to everyone else than they are to Bama.

Did folks forget that Ohio State was absolutely mudstomped twice last year, and was a Utah choke away from having 3 losses? I’m as high on Day as anyone, but he’s not shown he can be anywhere near as consistent on the field as he is on the recruiting trail.

And I’d expect UGA to come back to earth a bit with all their historic losses on defense. They’ll still be damn good but not game-changing enough to make up for their average offense.

Rank Bama #1, and then after that have everyone else wherever, because they’re closer to each other than Bama.

If Alabama has even halfway fixed their OL issues, nobody stays within 10 points of them all season

While that would be impressive, that's not that bold of a statement. Some of the early lines for their games this season:

-14.5 @ UT
-15.5 @ ARK
-16.5 vs A&M
-13 @ Tenn
-15.5 @ LSU
-14 @ Ole Miss

It is the SEC West, so they're bound to have a close game at some point during the season.

God, the parity in CFB is astounding!

Could CFB get any more diverse than it has been the last 10 years!

Year after year it's just a wild guess who will make the playoffs!

Well no shite, check out their schedule.

There's like 3 games you wanna watch, that's it. Why Alabama still schedules dogshite despite being so much better than everyone else is chicken-shite.

Austin Peay? Really?

I'd normally scoff at this kind of statement, but I tend to agree.

i might as well. is there any chance at all that bryce young is underwhelming after losing metchie and jameson? just wishful thinking?

The last 2 games Clemson played in the CFP they got stomped in.

Is that now normal? Clemson making it to the CFP and needing refs help or getting mudstomped?

Going to get less and less diverse with NIL and no-sit transfers.
