Fall practice is in full swing across college football and with that comes the release of USA Today's 2022 Preseason Coaches Poll, the first look at who coaches around the country feel are best-suited to compete for championships this fall. Last season, Alabama was the preseason No. 1 in the Coaches and Associated Press rankings and entered the College Football Playoff as the top seed and SEC champion before losing to Georgia in the national championship game.

The respect level for Nick Saban's Crimson Tide is again noticeable as Alabama garnered most of the first-place votes this summer.

I know clemson has the benefit against playing in a conference that barely qualifies as 1A ball, but are they really the 4th best team? Did they figure out their QB situation?

This would've been a more appropriate post for SEC rant.

Aggies, Michigan, and Clemson are all overrated AF.

Especially the Aggies.

I wonder the last time NC State was pre-season top 15? That kinda stands out to me.

Since the top 3 is pretty normal for the last few years, the only arguments start at 4

Who do you think should be #4? I think all the teams below them have a ton of questions as well. However Clemson did lose their DC of the last decade so that could certainly add to their questions

Edit: I could argue maybe for Utah being #4 actually. I'm not sure the teams 5-7 have less questions than Clemson but Utah has 13 starters back including 8 on offense.

I haven't paid close enough attention to have an opinion on that, was just kinda surprised to see clemson there since they were pretty blah last year and only looked as goo das they did because of weak competition.

Their fans are certainly drinking the kool aid.

I don't think these rankings are a prediction of finish, its who coaches think are the best teams regardless of conference. SoS is only relevant if you're predicting finish.

Clemson's defense might be the best in the country this year. That DL is scary. Maybe they think Clemson pulls a UGA 2021 card and the QB doesn't matter a whole lot.

I’m just gonna say it

If Alabama has even halfway fixed their OL issues, nobody stays within 10 points of them all season

To no surprise, Notre Dame is way too high. They don't have a quarterback and will lose to Ohio State to the tune of 45-17.

Baylor is too low. I'd have them at #5.

I'd actually put Tennessee in the #18-25 range as well.

Famous last words.

You think anyone thought 2019 LSU was gonna be an all time team?

I agree Bama looks heads and shoulders above everyone else on paper, but let’s see what happens on the field and how the injuries go.

Who really has a QB and a good enough team to put at that spot? Baylor lost a lot of key guys.

Has their OL situation been situated? DJU may be better with experience but the OLine was one of the worst I've ever seen

No clue, I don't keep up with all the contenders that closely anymore. I'm a big draft guy so I know about the defense because of that, and they didn't really lose much from a unit last year that kept that inept offense in games.

So Saban is 1000% Texas’ lone #1 vote right?

20. Wisconsin Badgers — After just missing the Big Ten title game last fall, Wisconsin welcomes back a veteran-laden group.

Most of the defense is new.... As are all the WR's and TE's for the most part.

for pretty good reason, they have been solid and getting better year after year with this coaching staff. Lot of talent return

so in true NC State fashion this season will be a massive disappointment.

I am hope they win the ACC, that fanbase deserves some happiness

Or course not. There’s no way we would have known before the season.
