My guess is that Trump is jealous of the power Xi and CCP has over sports broadcasts.

Will people even be allowed to attend upcoming NBA games in China? I can see a scenario where they encourage fans to not attend, and imprison those that do.

Yep. Silver is hopefully learning that half measures don’t exactly work with regards to China.
At some point he is going to have to choose between a major revenue stream in China and their core markets in the US. Because firing Morey at the behest of China is going to cause a major shitstorm and permanently damage the NBA in the US. Possibly Canada too.
