That injury guarantee is probably if he gets permanently hurt the 1st practice after he signs and passes his physical.

That's not bad. The practical guarantees are probably quite higher and I'm sure there are rolling guarantees that bump off with better play/playoff appearances(think Kaep's 49ers contract).

You're correct... it's not mine and I can't remember the last time I spent money on something pro sports related.

uh, this contract is based off a CBA which mandates salaries based off revenue. that money is going to be spent on guys "playing a game" regardless

So who should the money go to? Back to the billionaire owners?

These idiots will always follow up with “teachers, firefighters, scientists, etc. should get paid more”. So either they have zero idea about economics and/or they’re essentially arguing for redistribution of wealth.

People think this will limit the Chiefs ability to keep good players and get good free agents. I'd argue the opposite, players will be want to play with Mahomes knowing there's a good chance at winning a Super Bowl. You'll see good players take less to play with Mahomes, it just happened with Sammy Watkins.

Sammy took less because he didn’t really have much other choice. He had an insanely bloated salary that wasn’t guaranteed. I doubt his market would’ve been that hot, certainly not as hot as he would like coming off a 50 catch season.

People need to go and read Andrew Brandt’s Twitter to understand what this deal is over the long term..

I think most see the total years and are opposed. I just can't agree with any sports contract longer than 5 years. This is a 10 year extension for a total of 12 years. That is insane. No one can forecast that far into the future. Both sides should have more freedom and easier outs. In 5-6 years one of the sides is going to hate this deal. By definition, that is a bad contract..

I like Mahomes, but it's ridiculous the money these athletes make.
