I can't understand the puts and takes of this contract until the NFL's accomplished scholar, Richard Sherman, weighs in.

Just told my roommate that his Bears saved 400+ million by drafting Trubisky over Mahomes. It didn't cheer him up.

Will the NFL even be a thing in 10 years at the rate we are going? I think there is about to be a huge market correction with pro sport salaries in general too.

Prescott and agent will push for that 40 mil a season contract from Dallas even more now even though he's no Mahomes, he will claim he is. Lol

If you don’t ask, you don’t get. Ask for $40 million a year and “settle” for the $35 million a year you really wanted.

Injury guarantee seems low

Curious to see how it breaks down per year and towards the end of the deal and how much of the 450 is fake money

That’s probably what Jerry wants you to believe, but it’s simply not true

Tbh given each of their situations this is the contract Watson should’ve agreed too or aimed for while Mahomes should’ve gone for a higher %of guaranteed on a shorter deal

The #Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes have agreed to terms on a 10-year extension worth $503 million, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. He gets $477M in guarantee mechanisms and gives the ability for Mahomes to have outs if the guarantee mechanisms aren’t exercised. No trade clause

-Rappaport

This makes a lot more sense but I’m curious what “guarantee mechanisms” means exactly. That’s some real agent speak right there
