It’s cute for all of 2 possessions and then it gets really old really quickly. Plus you’re only thinking about the 10 NFL Games each year and completely ignoring the other dozens of events that could take place in a domed stadium that wouldn’t be possible in an outdoor stadium.

That is a long way from the airport and downtown.

Which airport, Midway? Arlington is a 15-20 minute drive from O'Hare.

It is a bit of a hike from downtown.

O'Hare is a LOT closer to the Arlington site than it is to Soldier Field. I would say its not even 15 mins from the Arlington site. Midway is a lot farther away. So this new site makes even more sense.

I'd be absolutely shocked if the Bears built a permanent stadium there. There's not much supporting infrastructure (no bars, few hotels) in that area. There's a metra (commuter rail line) from the city to next to the horse track, but that can't handle thousands of people. The horse track a 45 minute drive from the city center on good days, and with traffic it can be 1.5 hours.

Sounds like when the Redskins moved to Landover

It was Jack Kent Cook’s double bird salute to the city

20+ years later it’s still a disaster

City center stadiums are great when you are 24 and want to grab some cherrywood IPAs while you walk from you $2,300 a month flat to the stadium, but for adults with children who want to grab a bite to eat before the game and not take an hour+ to get home after it, suburban ones are the route to go.

As someone who has dealt with a stadium in the suburbs off a major highway you are so wrong it’s not even funny

Guess what; Most people drive to the game. They do now and they will if da Bears move to the burbs.

I'd be curious to know if that's accurate right now for the bears. CTA trains and buses are jammed on gameday. And there's not a ton of parking around the stadium.

during a game, cold temperatures and precipitation can be a real advantage for the home team during the most important games of the year

Literally every fan base with a stadium in the suburbs complains about it and wants to move back to the city

Even the Braves recent move to the burbs hasn’t been great

Yeah 20 something year old urbanites on Twitter complain, but not the adults who actually buy season tickets.

That is absolutely bullshite. They’ve gone from having zero game day atmosphere to one of the best in the league, if not the best.

And you’re questioning the viability of a suburban stadium in Chicago when Wrigley has been packed for decades? Lol okay.

You want asses in your seats? Put those seats in the place most convenient for the asses who want to be in them. For the Bears, that’s going to be Arlington Heights. If they throw a dome out there, it’s even better for the residents and business owners of the those suburbs.

Arenas are for downtowns. Stadiums are for suburbs.

Tampa bay was like 0 for forever when game time temperature was under 40 degrees (granted they didn’t have Brady for those games)
