Yea Im sure Yankees fan would have booed Jeter or Rivers if either of them would have played for a different team and returned to Yankee Stadium for the first time in 8 years. Pujols is the 2nd best and arguably the best player in the Cardinals franchise.

If either of them played for Boston, They sure as hell would have booed

Just like what Red Sox fans did to Clemens when he came back as a Yankee

He chased money in Cali, DD felt that Cardinals disrespected Albert by offering him a 5 year 125 extension. DD runs that house hold, Alberts nuts are in her purse.

He got paid. Who amongst us would ever turn down millions of dollars to remain loyal to our current boss/company? I’ll hang up and listen.

Ok, I could understand the initial standing ovation when he came to the plate in his first AB of the series, but it was every single AB the whole series, it seems. That’s ridiculous and I don’t even blame the Cardinals fans. I watched the game last night, and I blame Yadier Molina. Every time Pujols was announced, Molina would literally stand out in front of the plate and hold up the game until the whole crowd was standing and clapping. The applause ended abruptly as soon as Molina walked to his position behind the plate. It’s on the umpires, too, for letting Molina do it every AB. Even Pujols looked like he was getting a little uncomfortable with it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that Cardinals fans did.

But what I really wanted to say in this thread is that Cardinals fans are the worst fans in baseball.

Cardinals fans gave Griffey a massive standing O and curtain call when he hit #500 there.

They love baseball more than laundry.

by him chasing money, it helped the team. Owner would of paid albert, then extended Yadi, and then cried poor and put out an even shittier roster than this years club.

They used his cash to bring in other players and went to 1 more world series and a few more playoffs.

He actually didn't chase money. Living out in California, he makes less money now than what was offered him by the Cardinals. He wanted to play until his 40s. The Cardinals were unwilling to do that for him. Which makes sense. There is no DH in the NL and he would be a liability in the field as he aged because of his feet and legs already having shown signs of deterioration. It all worked out fine in the end. Pujols still has a lot of love for St. Louis. I think he still has a house there and does a lot of charity work still in the St. Louis area.

And as for the ovations, the man was considered literally the second coming of Stan the Man. He was, for 11 years, the embodiment of the spirit of St. Louis. Quiet determination and humility wrapped in a talented body that gave back all he could to the community in which he lived. He was who St. Louisans aspired to be. Whether that was all show or not is irrelevant. He was the Cardinals for 11 years. That he was given an ovation is of no surprise to anyone. That series sold out so that people could show their appreciation to Pujols for all he had done for the team and the city.

But did they give him or Pujols a Stony Brook high five victory lap?
