So, a black man doesn't play the race card, criticizes other black men for their bad work ethic, then says he wants to change the perception of black QB's by having a positive work ethic, and there's a problem?

WTF is he bitching about? He went # 1 overall.

The only issue I would have had with him would be character issues - like being charged with 3 felonies and accused of academic fraud while at Florida. If JR and VY are responsible for that then he has a point. Otherwise he should keep his fricking mouth shut.

Reflects more poorly on AU system IMO. They simplfied/dumbed the game down for the players.

How does that reflect poorly on Auburn? Did we not win a national title and have a #1 overall NFL Draft pick pan out into a potential Pro Bowl Rookie Season?

Cam would much easyer to take had he played for USCe.
But even I will admit he is a great player who can back his mouth up.

Because even if it is my own kids, I have zero tolerance for people that don't take responsibility for their own actions and choose to blame others.

"But I can't sit up here and look at it like, oh man, my critics are racist," Newton says. "I blame JaMarcus Russell and to some degree Vince Young. If you have the opportunity to make that kind of money doing something you love to do, why would you screw it up?

Face it dude. Newton showed more character flaws than JR or VY did coming out of college. There was certainly plenty of reason to think that he was a potential bust.

Most of the criticism towards Cam was completely undeserved. People were saying that they were concerned about his work ethic and that his smile wasn't genuine. They were comparing him to Jamarcus Russell. It's ridiculous that you believe he should take responsibility for people viewing him that way.

Hmmmmm.....he could have studied a little harder instead of cheating at UF and he could have got a summer job to pay for a new laptop instead of stealing one. The nerve of some people to question the character or work ethic of a 21-year old before investing tens of millions of dollars in a guaranteed contract.

Leading Carolina to triple the number of wins they had last year despite a bad defense is very impressive.

he projected s a bust coming out of college. Now he projects as an average NFL passer (those yards negated by his 16 INTs) with runnbing abiliy.

Which is still a bust given where he was drafted. Right now hes just shining brightlly admist lowered expectations, the honeymoon will be over in a year or so though.

Im more excited about Andy Dalton and Jake Locker (kid has special ability, though limited action, saints fans should know) Atleast Cam Newton isnt Blaine Gabbert, who doesnt need to be on an NFL roster.
