I am guessing that there is a lot of trolling in this thread, but I think a 12 game suspension or so would be fair. I think this kind of stuff is far worse than shoves/minor fights that lead to 10 game suspensions.

But the NBA, just like most athletic bodies are reactive, and not proactive.

They'll wait until somebody's career is ended or worse before they actually do the right thing.

I remember Kermit Washington's lifetime suspension for the punch he threw against Rudy Tomjanovic. To me, I would have done the same thing--middle of a fight--if you grab me from behind you'll probably get hit too--I don't know what your intentions are.

But Barea was totally vulnerable and defenseless on that play--and yet Bynum will still probably only receive a 5 game suspension at max.

When I played ball, to take somebody down like that on the way to the hoop was the surest way to start a fight.

My best friend clothes lined a dude at a park on Napoleon Ave when we were teenagers...just because he didn't like him. The dude just laid there for what seemed like 10 minutes.

I told my friend(who I'm still best friends with 20 something years later), "If you ever pull some shite like that while I'm around, and somebody tries to kick your arse because of it, don't expect me to help you".

Bynum has to pull a Ron Artest to be suspended a full year.

What's the record suspension for a hockey player who made an intentional act to hurt someone? I know they can hand out some stiff suspensions. Whatever it is, the NBA should follow.
