SMU didn’t have a single ranked or quality win before tonight either, and they were ranked #8 clearly in the playoff.
Why should they be punished for earning a conference championship game berth?

Greg McElroy even saying SMU should be in. Both commentators say you shouldn't penalize a team for playing an extra game.

The conferences will make the call.
They need the conference championship game.

Anyone with any common sense knows it's over. The committee said they wouldn't punish teams for playing In a conf champ. They put smu above bama before conf champ. Smu loses conf champ on a 53 yard fg. Bamas only chance of passing them was if they got blown out.
