The Warriors didn't gain momentum until the Cavs tired out in the series Or you know they just made adjustments like they did in their earlier series when they down 2-1
It was both

No one had seen curry guarded like that up until the finals
He had very similar back to back poor shooting nights against Memphis in the same playoffs, fwiw.

Some folks acting like Delly is the answer to Curry.

Same mindset as some silly fans who asserted that Boris Diaw was the answer to LeBron James in the '13 Finals because James had a couple of bad shooting games when guarded by Boris before he got it going.

Ridiculous.

no one said that. But who else are you going to get to guard Curry? You have to deal with what you have.

Well yea, the Cavs didn't have other options. But if you look at the thread about picking a starting 5 to defend GS, some people were seriously taking Delly which is just absurd.

yeah, he wouldn't be my first choice. I'll give credit that Delly did an admirable job considering, and it's not like the Cavs can pick up a defensive guard right now. My point is a smaller guy would have better luck than a guy who is 6'8".

Yeah that's what my comment was referencing, sorry SabiDojo. Getting my threads mixed up now, my bad

Just seen it trotted out there like Delly is the Curry stopper or something.

in a small sample size it is important to show an outlier like that.

And all in saying is you don't just chalk it up as an outlier without studying the facts that caused that outlier.

No one is going to guard Curry with him shooting as well as he is outside the premier. But as sabi noted, Delly did an admiral job. He guarded him at half-court and full-full court and tried to deny him the ball as much as possible. To expect much more from anyone against curry are unrealistic expectations.

MJ plays deny ball on Steph while Pippen controls Klay. Real battle is down low with Rodman and Draymond. Bulls would look to slow the game down and get into half court sets with MJ working the paint. Warriors might have the edge on the bench but Point Guard Steve Kerr calls out all the Warriors plays before they happen and Bulls win.

It's always weird to me how there alway seems to be more threads and wayyyyy longer threads for hoops talk than the NFL.

Maybe that's not correct, but it sure seems that way.

Because the NBA promotes individuals and people dislike single pro more than teams and the demeaning talk is directed at more than just one team.

You get a large Cam/Panther thread but NBA you get large Curry, LeBron, Jordan, Kobe, and whomever threads.

Also there's more games so the series get talked about more

well there's lots of different fanbases, and some of the greatest MSB posters are more NBA focused than NFL

So the MSB thinks Delly on Curry works to an extent, but MJ on Curry doesn't get much traction? El oh el.

ETA: MSB in a nutshell.

After I dropped out of last nights thread, I starting thinking ; "maybe these guys are right about the complex defenses today's players have to face". I watched the wrap around and most of the second half of of another game, just concentrating on the defenses.

You guys are absolutely wrong about defense today. It was PATHETIC. 100% Poor defense in every game I watched.

Over running close outs all over the place, guys acting like it would be the greatest sin to even touch a guy, or truly contest a shot. They all run at a shooter.

It's a complex and sophisticated ACT of playing something like defense.
