He overcomplicated that field goal as much as humanly possible. Just have Wilson throw a ball out of the end zone on third down if you want to run off a little more clock. No need to turn the field goal into a fire drill especially when you have already botched two extra points.

It’s McDermott not knowing what the special teams call would be on the kick that leads to 13 seconds. For a guy with a reputation for being meticulous his teams are woefully underprepared in the biggest moments.

I mean there was still ten seconds left on the clock when they weee set to kick. It’s not like it was anything close to being difficult as far as getting the fg team on the field

I by no means think he forgot how to coach but damn man a guy like him has got to know you avoid having to rush the FG team out there like that at all cost. If you leave 10 seconds on the clock for the other team then you leave it but you don't do that

He clearly meant first and second down. Frankly at the start of that drive your special teams coach should be organizing your 11. Heck, go with 10 instead of 12
