This is likely going to cost America having to turn over a violent and/or dangerous enemy to us.
Why should the US do that?

Why is it egregious? She knowingly broke their law. That is the standard sentence for breaking said law. Just because a bunch of pothead Americans think it is harmless, does not mean the rest of the word has to agree.

This is like idiots breaking the law knowingly in Saudi Arabia or the UAE and then crying about injustice. You knew those were their laws. Either respect them or get out.

There's an American teacher in Russian Prison right now serving a 14 year sentence for the same exact thing. Can't make a layup though. I don't see anyone crying over it.

Americans break laws all of the time overseas and go to prison over it.

While she is almost certainly getting a bit of a raw deal over politics, I'm not trading Viktor Bout for her under almost any circumstances.

I’m not happy about anyone getting prison time but she broke their law…. It doesn’t matter if I think the crime fits the time. It’s their country’s law. I don’t wish Ill on her but she kinda did it to herself.

We all know if you or me were stuck for the same reason. None of this country would give a frick or even consider trading over a dangerous Russian as an exchange

I must have missed all the threads you started for all of the other Americans imprisoned in Russia and elsewhere.

Also, I find it hilarious when the US was jailing Russian nationals for election interference because of memes while they were interfering in elections all over the world.

I don’t care for all of Russia’s strict policies but to bitch and moan like the US is some kind of innocent county in comparison is hilarious.

If you are stupid and do the crime, do the time. No excuses, especially when I have little sympathy for potheads to begin with.

She better be hoping Viktor Bout doesn’t have a heart attack in prison and die. He’s her freedom card and we all know Biden is going to make this reckless trade.
