Northwest Kansas Technical College will probably be banned from welding competitions for 8 years over this.

The one sport KU is good at goes down the drain. Maybe they should learn how to run a clean program like Duke or North Carolina! Sad that a blue blood has fallen so far.

One of the most hilarious parts of this is if it wound up taking Self down, he got taken down by SILVIO DESOUSA.

Self would lose a Hall of Fame career over a guy who never averaged more than 4 ppg and whose most memorable moment at KU was attacking the KSU player in the handicapped section of Phog Allen.

It all is going to come down to whether Adidas is deemed a booster for the university. KU acknowledges the payments happened. The only argument left is if the Adidas payments were to benefit the university or the company; did they pay for these players to specifically go to KU or to build a relationship so they could sign them once they were going pro?

The NCAA seems to clearly reject that theory in their Section I and label Gassnola a booster.

That's why I said it's on. KU and the NCAA seem at odds where they can't compromise.

As I said the other day, from the Arizona perspective, I am all for a KU/NCAA showdown. The more work KU does, the less we have to.

I think the argument could be made that Adidas reaps financial rewards when a good player goes to one of their sponsored schools and as a result Adidas ends up selling more product based on the popularity of that player.

That whole response was calling BS on everything KU submitted.

Oh, I completely agree with that. I don't see how they can get around considering Adidas a booster. There were some mutual benefits going on for both sides through all of this. KU will respond in the next few months, then they'll have the appeal hearing.

Some of the stuff included in the 60 or so pages related to basketball wasn't that strong. Larry Brown being called a booster for a recruitment, Adidas guys talking with players at different events, Adidas throwing Bill Self a HOF party.

The texts and proved payments to De Sousa and Billy Preston are the most damaging parts of the report. KU will say they sat the players once they found out they were ineligible, and that you can't prove intent of the texts.

Something to add: boosters have a tough time running AAU teams because of NCAA rules. So if that's the case, then how can Nike/Adidas/Under Armor support and provide gear for them moving forward? (Seth Davis article/argument)

They’ll probably have to forfeit or vacate every win in the 2019-2020 season, have their Big 12 Title stripped, blah blah. One of the dumbest things the NCAA can do.

Actually affects the 16-17 and 17-18 teams instead of this past year more than anything. Will probably be forced to vacate the ‘18 Final Four run. (Josh Jackson in 16-17, De Sousa in 17-18)

Players that didn’t go to KU who were mentioned:

Ayton - $15,000 given to one of his friends in order to steer him to KU according to Gassnola
Williamson - Parents requesting jobs/house/money. Parents denied ever asking for any of that and said Code made up that request.
