Article said they had $1.7 million in unpaid bills to the city. My just be an accounting this though ala net 30 or net 60.

No they were not. They have unpaid bills but both parties haven’t been happy with each other for a long time. The new owner came in and wasn’t happy with the way things were running (team was losing $25 million a year) so they basically canceled contracts and started over. There are several entities that say they are still owed money including the city(and those claims may indeed have merit), but it’s likely the cities money is a negotiating tactic. Much like this announcement from the city that they are done.
They should have never moved to Glendale and will end up in the east valley where they belong.

Good. Hockey in Arizona is stupid. I'd even say hockey in Dallas and Houston is a bad idea. Of course the only reason why the Stars are successful is due to Northerners moving to Texas. But I think Houston is too close to the Gulf and attracts transplants who don't really like hockey. I hope the team moves to Quebec.
