How exactly does this put him in a bad position?

Dude is going to get his money regardless.

In no way does this statement make sense.

I'm sure he means they didn't get it from people going to games, but from sponsorships, TV deals, commercials, etc etc.

Which is how virtually every team makes their money.

It is a standard hedge against risk. If it wasn't such a big deal then why are the Chargers refusing to include it?

Buss bought the team in 1979 for $20 million and sold part of the team in 1998 for $268 million

Because they are cheap as frick, are notoriously difficult for rookies to deal with, and are trying to set a new standard for how Top 5 deals are structured.

All of their top 10 picks under this FO have held out. All of them.

Every other top 5 pick has not had both stipulations in their contract. Bosa would be the only one, ever.

Which is dumb as frick. The money comes from the Lakers being a basketball team. Those revenues wouldn't be available if it wasn't a basketball team. It's like saying that an online newspaper or magazine doesn't get money from publishing articles. It gets money from advertising. Sure, but there would not be any advertising revenue if people weren't reading the articles.

Yup. He's making a very misleading and disingenuous point.

Wentz apparently has offset language, and deferred $1mil of his signing bonus to January. Elliott does not seem to have offset language, but deferred over $6mil to March.

So that's the framework Bosa is working inside. From that perspective, he may not have much to stand on. Seems that the Chargers wanted to defer less than $3 mil to March and include offset language.

Maybe Bosa should have agreed to a larger deferment for no offset, or agree to the offset for less deferment. But maybe the Chargers weren't willing to budge enough on either.

I suppose. Hope he knows what he's doing and is fully prepared to be the one that takes a stand. If this is a fully principled stance, he's a better man than I am.

I see you refused to answer my question. Typical when you know that you are full of shite. If it changes nothing then why are the chargers refusing to include it?

I've heard they save quite a bit on taxes... not sure if that's true.

I don't know this for sure, but I have read the deferment issues is 1 of 2 issues. Apparently both Wentz and Elliott got the other issue the way they wanted. The Chargers are trying to get Bosa to agree to lose out on both (the other issue has to do with who pays him if he gets cut within his deal or something like that)

The Chargers went public and escalated the negotiation. They embarrassed him and honestly that's something Teams never do. In fact, every team gets pissed when agents air out negotiations publicly.

Let's see, the SD fans have to watch this embarrament, their franchise has been in shitter and now they have to drive to play in LA for next few seasons. I would be pissed as a Chargers fan. "The Charger Way" lmao

the fact that Bosa hasn't said frick it and gone to camp tells me he won't be worth a damn in the league
Emmitt Smith held out and missed training camp his rookie year.

Nailed it!!!

Bosa's great grandfather was Tony Accardo, a bonafide Mafia kingpin with the Chicago Outfit. Surely Joey's family still has connections and could just have a few Chargers executives whacked
