Bob Myers, GM of Golden State, is ruthless. Someone needs to trade for HIM

That dude is straight up doing his job and other GMs better take notice and step up their games.

Wanna bring GS down, trade for Bob Myers. The dude doesn’t let up. He reminds me of an old school Jerry West GM.

GS drafted well. Kudos.

The rest of it has been luck. The cap jump coming in a year where Steph is still on a $11MM/yr contract because of his ankles allowed KD to sign. Getting free agents to join a 72 win team isn't all that difficult, but congrats I guess.

Luck favors the prepared. Myers drafting so well allowed him to keep the cap so low to capitalize on what everyone saw coming with the cap increase. Myers also didn’t settle AFTER all this success. He got on the phone and swooped up Boogie immediately. The dude is keeping his foot on the neck of the entire league.

Yep.They also dodged a bullet when Dwight Howard signed with Houston in 2013. The Warriors were trying to move heaven and earth to get him in a sign and trade, offering Klay Thompson and I think either Harrison Barnes or Andrew Bogut to the Lakers but Dwight picked the Rockets.

That move would’ve broke up their core obviously and they wouldn’t have had the space to sign Durant 3 years later.

Myers is a former agent. I don't think it's a coincidence that a former agent is exceptionally good at wining and dining and convincing players to join their team.

They chose KD over Harrison Barnes. Pretty easy decision.

There is a fine line when it comes to how much credit Myers gets.

A lot of it is luck and a lot of it is shrewd drafting.

Steph, Klay, Draymond all ended up better than most everyone thought they would be. Now, Myers deserves credit for identifying and drafting that talent but I doubt even he knew they would be this good - some luck was involved there.

After that, signing KD at a discount is something any GM of a team that good could have done with a guy who wanted to win a ring. Same with Cousins. It's not too hard of a sell for guys like that.

You do realize Boogie contacted him and offered to take the MLE?

He's a master at answering his phone.

GS is trying to do their best Bama impersonation. Not bad either.

You think he called Boogie and offered him $5 million?

I will forever tip my hat to them for the drafting of Klay and Dray. But to say GS was able to predict Curry’s magical return to mostly good health while locking him up to the most undervalued contract in NBA history AND predicting cap smoothing wouldn’t happen (these 2 things absolutely had to happen in conjunction for them to afford KD) is just hilarious.

Curry’s ankles and the one time cap spike with no cap-smoothing are the biggest reasons we’re in this mess. And both are extraordinarily good luck.

Not really. He didn’t do anything. Boogie’s agent went to him and said Boogie wants to play for the Warriors for $5 million. And Bob Myers is like “alrighty”.

meh

He's riding an undercurrent of players who see value in getting a ring over getting paid.

Right now, the NBA system is broken and it's affecting the competitiveness of the league.

I guess he just knew that Steph would be this and couldn't stand to pass him up with the first pick in the draft...wait....

The KD move is the one that should've been blocked by the league.

This Cousins move isn't as big of a deal but its just more icing on a cake thats already a diabetic's nightmare.

Because of the lack of superstars and the effect they individually can have, the NBA will never have true parity. However they should be able to get 3-4 competitive teams from each conference with at least some chance to go all the way!

Honestly Boogie could potentially be as much of a negative as a positive IMO. Cousins really isn’t the type to just accept stole player slot. Even if he recovers completely, his style really doesn’t mesh with GS at all.

This is what made everything work. Otherwise they're a good team, but don't have a chance to be get Igoudala, KD and become a historic team.
