I always thought that BH was a poor man’s Bobby Knight.

I'm not sure how this thread got sideways, but back to the matter at hand. No way Huggins survives this. I'd be shocked if he is still employed by the close of business Tuesday.
At this point, I wouldn't fire him for what he said...I'd fire him for being stupid/drunk enough to actually say those things in the first place knowing the nature of the world we live in right now.

He is a moron, but...people have short memories. Take the avalanche on the front end for 2 weeks and then retain him. Far more detrimental to start your program fresh. Eventually these schools touting academics > sports will actually learn it's the other way around and everything they do, except the holier than thou approach when firing coaches, reflects that.

I am kinda shocked the radio station didn't dump that bit of audio. I worked in commercial radio many years ago and unless it was a segment where callers were supposed to interact live with a guest - the segment was pre-recorded. If there were going to be live interactions - We used a 10-second delay to keep idiots from swearing and such live on air.

At this point, it’s about what the admin wants to do. Do they want to keep Huggins knowing his best days are behind him? And knowing that they have a chance to get rid of him without any buyout?
Or do they keep him as a thank you for his prime-era coaching?
I doubt the board, alumni, and even student body cares a ton about this. There will be op-eds in the student paper sure, but I think a coach can ride this out better at WVU than a lot of places.
Does anyone think he was at all sober for this call?

They are actually ranked #1 in transfer rankings in 247 and the crown jewel of the class was Syracuse's best player and one of the best big men in the nation. Wonder how many of those guys scatter if Hugi Bear gets canned.
We’ll take em all in BR.

Catholics are overwhelming democrats. Except the pope

They are Catholic like I am French... It's in my heritage, but I don't claim it unless it's beneficial, and no one gives a s***(especially me)

I think you might be wrong on both accounts. Over 3/4s of Hispanics in American are Catholic. Then got to add in the Vietnams and Filipino Americans. The Democrats have had a Catholic on the ticket every election this century. Catholic Democrats out number Catholic Republican in both houses of Congress.
Biden, Nancy Pelosi, AOC, Sonia Sotomayor, John Kerry, Tim Kaine, Kirsten Gillibrand, Dick Durbin are all Catholics but Democrat.

Didn't about 50% of Catholics vote for Biden in 2020?

The American State religion will find any insult to its sacred cows as blasphemous.
Huggins has had his meetings with our modern O'Brien, but he will still lose his job and will be unhireable.

Something tells Huggins really don't care and will tell WVU to fire him

He made a mistake. Poor choice of words. Why can’t people simply apologize and not do it again? People are so quick to want to fire anyone.

I think he will survive this. He's deeply connected in WV, a WVU graduate and could probably win an election in WV. He's a major fundraiser for the athletic department, raises millions for cancer research each year, and has the unwavering support of most of the fanbase and donors. In WVU circles, people have already said they will stop donating to the school if they fire him.
Really, it's a no win situation. WVU is damned if they do and damned if they dont - for different reasons.
I think this will come down to the Board of Governors and if they feel like it would do too much harm to the university image, or if they can manage to retain him and settle on other disciplinary measures (pay cut, donation, training, etc..)
Personally, I don't think he should be fired

Hughins has already survived the first 24 hours. He's going to make it.
