One of the saddest aspects of these revelations is that we could start to say, "oh it's another sex abuse scandal," rather than be horrified at the individual depravity and institutional suppression.

Bye Bye Schembechler Hall

There is a not small faction of Michigan alumni who would immediately pull donations if this happened. He might be held in higher esteem at Michigan than Paterno ever was at Penn State.

It’s also a Michigan thing. Lets not forget North Fox Island.

The B1G is so creepy. I can’t believe Les Miles brought that shite over here. I guess the sexual assaults and coverups come with the I-formation offense when you’re emulating a B1G school

It's sad that he's remembered for that one act.

From the commencement speech he gave at Ohio State.

quote:

I would like to start out with something that I use in almost every speech, and that is the idea of paying forward.

Paying forward - that is the thing that you folks with your great education from here can do for the rest of your lives. I was so happy the other day when I saw in the paper about Jim Lachey, who played here one year ago and comes back after one year of professional football to give a six-figure gift to the University. And what he said was, "I received a great education here and I got to play great football under Coach Bruce, and under a great football system here. I want to help some other youngster to do the same thing."

Take that attitude toward life, because so seldom can we pay back - those whom you owe - your parents and other people - will be gone. Emerson had something to say about that.

He said you can pay back only seldom. But you can always pay forward, and you must pay line for line, deed for deed, and cent for cent. He said beware of too much good accumulating in your palm or it will fast corrupt. That was Emerson's attitude and no one put it better than he did.

This is really disturbing…….as a 7 year old kid I rooted hard for Michigan football… every year it seemed to be between UM and OSU to go to the Rose Bowl… they ended up calling it the 10 years war between the two schools…. While growing up I could not wait for that last week of the season…. UM vs. OSU early then followed by USC-UCLA later…. Most of the time those games decided who went to the Rose Bowl…. That was a huge deal back then… not so much now… but IF BO knew something he should have done something about it… End of story… however he didn’t… A really bad look for Michigan……

Matt Schembechler says he was touched inappropriately by Anderson during a physical at the age of ten. At his mother's urging, he reported Anderson's conduct to Bo. "My effort earned me a punch in the chest. This was the beginning of the end of my relationship with him."

quote:

Matt says he reported Anderson's conduct to athletic director Don Canham and believes Bo intervened to prevent Canham from firing Anderson.

quote:

Former U-M player Daniel Kwiatkowski identifies himself as the unnamed player in the WilmerHale report who was told by Schembechler to "toughen up" after reporting Anderson's conduct. "Bo knew. I knew. I was on my own and Bo was never going to protect us from Dr. Anderson."

quote:

Former U-M player Gilvanni Johnson says he reported Anderson's conduct to Bo, but nothing came of it. Later, coaches used threats of visiting Anderson as a motivational tactic. "Only now do I realize how crazy it was to threaten rape as a way to make players work harder."
