As far as leftwich and bieneme, there’s lots of whispering that they would rather wait it out at a good franchise than jump to a shitty one (like Jacksonville or Houston).

Is there a link for that or are we just speculating? And it’s very possible some or close to them advised them to avoid certain franchises. The Texans GM was on head sets with the coach last year, so it would make sense to stay away

But what about say Denver? What makes the Hackett, the OC for Rodgers so much more qualified than say Leftwich? And please note I’m not saying he’s not, he might be a great coach, maybe he interviewed better? That happens, that was long rumored to be why Dan Mullen didn’t get a big job sooner.

You think someone that didn’t want a black QB at 25-30 years old thinks differently 28 years later? Those guys are now the age of people doing the hiring

All of this is speculation. Nobody is required to say why they didn’t hire someone. Look I can believe there’s tremendous favoritism in sports. You know that Lovie smith hired his son to the Texans this year right? Was he for certain the most qualified candidate? Maybe…but it’s more likely that his familiarity with his dad tipped the scales in his favor. It’s laughable to me that people think that guys who own football teams are closet racists. Most are shrewd billionaires who got their franchises after being successful in other endeavors, and want to be successful in their franchise and will not stack the deck against themselves with some stuck in the past thinking. The exceptions seem to be the owners who inherited the team and likely all their success from their father and so they (picture Cal McNair here) have no depth of experience to draw upon and get hoodwinked by lousy advisors. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Denver broncos sale/auction plays out. If I were Peyton manning I’d get Jay z on my team or Dr Dre and the Rock Nd create the first inclusive diverse ownership group and market then as “The minority team” to develop an international fan base of minorities to sell shite to.

Because Rodgers has rapport with him and its easier to implement an offensive both of you are so familiar with when you are trying to find 25 other guys for your side of the ball

Another thing to look at is the demographic % in college FB compared to the NFL. College FB has a higher % of white players than the NFL, so it just stands to reason the guys that don't make the NFL that want to stay in the game go be GAs and then get a head start on working the way up the totem pole and have experience in the coaching industry. Sean McVay and Zac Taylor were scrub football players and had to go the coaching route after college and now they're SB head coaches with people still playing the game that are their age or older.

If you're an elite player playing until your mid 30s even to your 40s, if you want to go into coaching you're like a decade behind the guys that started out as GAs. Coaching the game and playing them are different skill sets

That mentality still exists?? You take an interview from 35 years ago from some old dude. One guy.

Flores is butt hurt because he got canned by a POS owner who was allegedly asking him to do things that were against the rules and because he got passed over for the two jobs (one several years ago) because the Owners liked somebody else. Why can't people hire they want to? Stay woke, bro! You've been brainwashed also.

You think a couple of 20 year olds sitting in a Shreveport football stadium in '95 are now hiring NFL coaches? Or what % of whites do you think are really racists, i.e., despise others based exclusively on skin color?

It seems one giant leap for racism to project a 27 year old anecdote onto the vast majority of white people today.

FTR, I don't watch NFL but have found this thread fascinating.

Only reason I finally watched a game this season was because I placed a legal wager on Burrow and the Bengals to get it done.

I might not even watch on Sunday. Dont really care for either team.

Put your tin foil hat on:

Perhaps this is all a huge paid-for media distraction to deflect from:

Ross offering to pay Flores money to lose games. On one hand, yeah that's blatant match fixing which is actually illegal let alone against company policy.

The thought process is if you hire an African American candidate that guys would want to come play here. Why don’t they just hire someone.

What a racist comment, it’s absolutely infuriating. So me and others that share the same skin color only want to play for a coach of the same skin color in your mind? I am that thoughtless and brainless I can’t make decisions other than he’s the same color as me? You understand we have had coaches with our skin color in the NFL before right? Has there been a huge influx of players to the Steelers due to Tomlin?

That is the biggest storyline out of the whole ordeal. Not because white coaches were hired instead of him.

He alleges that a owner was attempting to pay him to lose on purpose. NFL is crooked plain and simple. If the NFL/Vegas isn't the ones fixing the games then you have owners sandbagging for their own reasons.

FFS black is a pronoun, not a noun.

They profit share. The worst NFL teams still win because of the money. The owners don't care about wins or losses.

Very truthful comment here. The NFL bought the ticket, now they got to take the ride. I hope it's gets really, really ugly because they brought it on themselves
