This makes me sick. Something similar happened in a NHL game a few years ago. The game was postponed. And resumed later in the season. All we can do now is hope for the best.

CPR is a pretty violent act.

Most people don’t realize this. It’s not like TV CPR.

I’m thinking aortic dissection.

I'd really appreciate hearing a medical professional's opinion on the situation if there are any MDs in the thread.

I'm no medical professional, but commotio cordis is what most people are speculating given what is known.

Doc on Youtube explaining commotio cordis

quote:

LINK
Commotio cordis is ventricular fibrillation precipitated by blunt trauma to the heart. Although it is infrequent, it is an important cause of sudden death in young athletes. This activity reviews the evaluation and management of commotio cordis, and explains the role of the interprofessional team in managing patients with this condition.

A lot of people believe that if you don’t break a rib while administering CPR then you weren’t pressing hard enough.

Update on Damar:

His vitals are back to normal and they have put him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat. They are currently running tests.

We will provide updates as we have them.

Common for the person received CPR to end up with broken ribs

Really depends on the person you're giving it to.

Tests are going to be on the brain first - to see if any damage has been incurred, then to the heart, obviously

yeah... when I went through CPR training... the person who was giving the training basically said you're not doing it right if you don't crack a few ribs

This feels like the Ryan Newman fiery wreck at Daytona a few years ago where we thought we watched someone die. Hoping it is the same outcome as he pulled through and was released from the hospital a few days later despite a ton of fake tweets about him dying on the table
