I don't think dudes in the middle east care about U.S. college sports, but maybe I'm wrong. I could see them taking over the ATP tour (tennis) and some other pro sports they haven't already conquered.

PE funds are not run by dummies. They'll get a big cut of the TV/streaming revenue and some of the ticket/merchandising sales as well. Much of this will be done with borrowed money.

I have a feeling it’s because people hate life and need an escape.

It’s a gut feeling/intuition, but I don’t think that stat proves the sport is headed in a good direction at all.

more cash for players to make the BIG10 competitive with the SEC

Why would the Big Ten need more money to be competitive? The top of the conference already clears the top of the SEC.

perhaps they wont buy a team by themselves, but align with a US billionaire?

with the rise in franchises value , alot of billionaires cannot afford a team without being backed by somebody with deep pockets

expect NBA, NFL games soon in the middle east. thats the goal of Saudi with MBS, spending billions to attract Americans to Saudi. see the Flag Football game with Brady, Sean Payton, Pete Carroll next year

with the 2034 Olympics in Saudi... they're doing alot to promote the country.

LINK

quote:

On the subject of Carter and James going head-to-head against the NBA -- even though James has previously said he is not part of Carter’s advisement team -- one NBA team executive said, “I’ll tell you, you may think I’m crazy, but I think the catalyst of this [NBA Europe] going quicker is they’re worried LeBron and Maverick are going to get the Saudis and start like a league. I think without a question, they [the NBA] think it’s direct competition.”

Asked why James would compete against his own NBA, the executive said, “LeBron doesn’t give a sh**. Not if Saudi gives LeBron $200 million in cash and calls it a night.”

We allowed the gays to marry and then look at what we got. Same thing paying players. Give an inch, etc.

What does the Big Ten need this money for? They already have the biggest TV contract.

I think the evidence that adding all this money adds more wins is slim especially given all your conference opponents get the money too.

Same reason you want more money in your life. What kind of question is that

It makes a lot of sense from an investment standpoint, why not buy up a league that can co-exist with the NFL since they don’t compete for talent.

Yup, it’s a runaway train. Nobody can speak out and stop it because they’ll be left behind.

The college football we all grew up on is long gone.

people in America are not going to realize until Saudi Arabia and the Gulf oil countries want in on college football...then begins buying up the MLB, NBA, NFL.

In this deal, Big 10 schools are getting "high nine-figure" upfront payments according to ESPN.

they already took Wrestlemania from a US city.
Let the B1G play their championship game in Jeddah.

You're wrong.

The dudes in the Middle East know their oil reserves will run out eventually so they are getting their talons into any and everything while they still have the ability.

Investing in sports is a huge money maker.

Jerry Jones bought the Cowboys for $140 million almost 36 years ago.

They are worth $13 billion now.

The day the Saudis are involved in LSU sports is the day I officially tap out. That feels so gross.

That doesn't surprise me and I don’t really think it invalidates the idea that college football is dying.

It’s becoming more spectacle now than it is something fans can feel invested in. People will always show up to watch a spectacle…for a while.

Let’s see how many stick around in a few years to continue to watch an increasingly expensive version of NFL-lite with fewer and fewer students and alumni that care.
