Does this open a window for the Cajuns to get into the AAC?

I would not see them as a favorite since I'd guess they'll shoot for the moon (Mt. West teams) and settle for C-USA.

The only lock seems to be UAB.

Basketball wise is going to be amazing in the conference. They should take a run at Gonzaga and Memphis for basketball only.

Football wise I think they have a lot of potential. If they keep AQ status I could see Okie State, Cincinnati and UCF really blossoming into some major players in conference.

Big 12 is going to accept these schools but are they certain they can hang on to existing schools?

Nope, but they have to try to maximize their value as a group in the meantime.

Now kids in Ohio who grow up Ohio St fans, but don't get recruited by Ohio St, don't have to leave the state of Ohio and go to Michigan, Michigan St or Penn St to play P5 football

As a fan of a team (Wisconsin) that recruits Ohio kids that OSU doesn’t want, the chance to play AGAINST OSU often seems to be a factor in staying in the Big Ten as does getting to play all the other teams they grew up watching.

Not sure those types will be all that jazzed about playing Texas Tech and Kansas.

The bottomline is that the B12 will live on basically because the other conferences didn’t want any of the remaining members. This is by far the best outcome for schools like Iowa St and Kansas St.

You hit on why it was important for both OU and UT to move over to the SEC and why the brand is that much stronger.

Ehhhh i supposed some will, but now a kid from Cincinnati/Dayton metro can stay home and play in the Big 12, at a big school and in a large metro with more access for NIL implications. So they are supposed to be jazzed about playing Purdue, Illinois or Rutgers? This gives kids from SW Ohio another avenue to play P5 and win. Cincinnati is a better program than 90% of the B1G right now. Now they have access to recruiting in Ohio, Texas and Florida...but in a P5 Setting. This will be a big time boost for Cincinnati with Ohio kids. Much the same it will be for kids from Houston and Florida.

It will be tiered.

Tier 1: SEC and Big 10

Tier 2: ACC and Pac 12

Tier 3: Big 12

And then so on

Still think they should have picked up Memphis instead of BYU, but if they are going to 14, then Memphis will definitely be 13.

Nobody wants those schools. UCF and Cincy will quickly run the conference in football and move up again.

Quite a trade...lose UT and Oklahoma...get Cincy, UCF, BYU and Houston.

I would point out that the last two times BYU played Texas they outscored Texas by a total of 80-28.

Wow Texas and OU must have buyers remorse after they added that legion of doom.

There is nowhere to move up to. They don’t call the P4, the P4 calls them
