Did the ACC miss the boat?
If you are going to add SMU, Cal and Stanford, why not entertain UConn
That would have added value to your basketball league

The SEC is the only football conference that makes any geographic sense at this point.
Well maybe the Sun Belt as well.

Basketball is basically irrelevant in conference realignment

Tournament money is pretty big still I thought.

It is
You can make a fine living as a basketball conference. But football money is still a different universe

It is but it is controlled by the NCAA
Unlike football where conferences/schools get all the money directly

I mean the Southeastern conference has a state that isn’t southern and multiple states that are part of the “Southeast”, so yeah even the Sec doesn’t make sense.

NC State, Virginia Tech, Miami, etc are probably plays for them as well if the ACC goes under

According to who?
The Big 12 will likely wait to see what happens with FSU and Clemson before making any moves. If they do, Louisville, NC State, Va Tech and probably Miami/Pitt will get the call before UConn

Why doesn’t the ACC try to add UConn? Boston College and Syracuse need a rival

UConn's football rivals should be more along the lines of UMass, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine, and UNH. They would have run train on the ACC in basketball last season though.

Yeah.
That'll put some butts in the seats.

The B12 would be better served by contraction rather than expansion after they lucked into the Pac12 collapse. They could be the dominant western conference if they ditched WVU, Cinci, and UCF and added Cal, Oregon St, and Washington St. There is far more legitimacy in owning a territory than taking the entire nation’s leftovers. They would have the flagship universities of California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and Kansas, with virtually all of the secondary state schools in the Western half of the nation.
You can’t ignore a huge section of the nation but you can ignore a perception of a mid tier conference thst takes anyone from anywhere.

UConn would be an absolute disaster for the Big2.

Florida State is going to be in the same conference as UCF, UConn, and Cincinnati

I’ll never forget them making the Fiesta Bowl.
