"Big-12 about to drop a BOMB"

My Utah and BYU friends are all abuzz right now over this text message that one of them got from one of their friends in Texas.
I know this is all unfounded rumor and speculation right now, but they seem to think that something big is about to go down regarding conference realignment.

Because I don't know anything about it other than the content of the text message. That combined with BYU's Independence Fail last week, and they are easily riled right now, so it might be nothing.
One bit of speculation on their part: Notre Dame and BYU to the Big12. Seems like a pipe dream to me, but who knows.

FWIW, I am told that the guy responsible for the rumor was the one who was out in front of the "utah-to-the-pac-10" stuff a few months ago.

How is that dumb? They can keep the Red River Rivalry as a permanent cross-division opponent and can renew yearly rivalries with teams from the Big 8.
