You mustve missed where he was a Golden Spikes finalist as a Freshman. So he was a top 3 player in baseball. As a freshman.

Rodon isn't even Top 3 buddy.

Stanek, Mark Appel, Seth Manaea and no one is really even close to those guys.

What makes NC State a top 20 program in today's college basketball?

It has been 30 years since they won a national championship right? As a guy who has no special affection for or dislike of NC State I just would never think of them as being nationally relevant in today's college basketball.

FWIW - I'm not disregarding NC State as a possible add for the SEC. They would give a new television market to us and generate a significant amount of revenue on the strength of that alone.

How irrelevant does this make Norte dame? No one is going to be schedule them with conference schedules being at least nine games after this.

And also how much does it suck for a program like Syracuse. Gave up a good thing in the Big East (still had dominance in basketball before all the Catholic schools left) and now they will get to the ACC and all the good schools will have left

Notre Dame is in a really awkward position. Their research politics being at odds with the more serious research universities in the Big 10 (stem cell research) is a major hangup for both sides.

Could ND stay independent? In the remnants of the ACC? Even consider joining the Big 12 instead of the Big 10? They have options but none of them seem perfect.

Notre Dame is a natural fit with the Big 10. No clue why they haven't made the move yet

GT to the B1G makes a ton of sense other than location

I never understood that either, seems like both sides think they are above each other. Like cool fat guy and decent looking fat chick that both think they could do better .

Are you familiar with the history of how they decided to become an independent school? And teh stem cell research debate?

I agree they fit in a geographical sense and often do play several of the Big 10 schools like Michigan, Michigan State, and Purdue - but they could well be courted by the PAC 10/12 on the basis of historical rivalries

I would put a bunch of basketball programs ahead of NC State. NC State is not in the top 20.

Here are 20 better programs just off the top of my head:

Duke
UNC
Butler
Indiana
Kentucky
Florida
UCLA
Ohio State
Georgetown
Louisville
Syracuse
Michigan
Michigan State
UConn
Kansas
Xavier
Villanova
Notre Dame
Arizona
Illinois

Wow, I'm all about school pride but you need to get Tuffy's junk out of your mouth. NC State provides absolutely nothing to the SEC if they were to join. You would become the Missouri of SEC football, would be bottom tier in baseball, and like others have said would be behind 4 or 5 programs in basketball.

Just look at your sig image and that fittingly describes your athletics department.

I am hearing up hear that the B1G is considering going to 20 teams and becoming the first of the four Mega-Conferences.

Agreed, but this is just rumor and speculation. If this does happen, the SEC, PAC 12, and BIG XII will be the other three Mega Conferences and the NFL type of playoffs will be taking shape.

Depends which 20 schools and what strings come with the expansion- if they can get permission from the NCAA to do a two round conference pod playoff they could benefit enormously.

Consider if they added:
North Carolina
Virginia
Duke
Georgia Tech
Notre Dame
Kansas

And made the following pods

Coastal:
Penn State
Virginia
North Carolina
Duke
Georgia Tech

West:
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Kansas
Iowa
Minnesota

Northeast:
Notre Dame
Purdue
Indiana
Rutgers
Maryland

Northwest:
Michigan
Ohio State
Michigan State
Northwestern
Illinois

Only would work if the conference championship has semi final and final. I could get behind that much college football

I do not understand the guys on the TD boards over the last few years that constantly would want say VT and NCS over UNC and Duke.

What part of fully loaded SEC Football already don't ya'll understand?

If say an ATM is to have a great year, there will surely be an Aubie having a down one. If ACC schools like VT and NCS are mediocre as ACCers, what part of them playing the role of Mizzou 2012 Part 2.0 in the SEC, do you not foresee?

Not every school or program can just mainstain biz as usual, once in tougher waters..

Beamerball and NCS become lesser than their recent meh form if in SEC..

Meanwhile, UNC and Duke, are Hoops schools, they along with UK and Fla, followed by former Sweet 16 and Final Four types in Ark and LSU, would give the SEC, a legit four to five deep run at NCAA Hardware yearly..like SEC Foots and Bases already provide.

I personally hate the greed, and the four Mega-Conference future nearing, think it's killing a uniqueness and regional aspect that give collegiate interleague sports it's fun rivalries..

But, if SEC must partake, UNC & Duke>>>>>VT & NCS

There has always been the suggestion of a pod scheduling system with these massive conference proposals.
