Va tech could have a major resurgence if they hooked up with the SEC imo. I'm sure they'd love it.

not really they maxed out their recruiting in the big east and acc and now are losing top guys

what the hell does that mean? How does a team "max out" and why because they are currently losing in state guys does that mean it is now a permanent condition?

If they are playing in Florida and Ga and even Texas, why couldn't they get guys out of those states?

for some reason they just can't recruit good out of state talent

maybe a new coach could change that

the best players in VA are not going to VT

Saying NC State "sucks at everything" because we aren't dominant at one thing is pretty dumb
You're pointing to 1 measly year where NC State was mediocre in 3 sports.

When is the last time NC State went to the final four? 1983...30 years ago.

Last time CWS appearance? 1968

Last conference champ in football? 1979

NC State does suck at everything.

Hence my use of the word "resurgence". It could be cool again to go to Va tech if they came to the SEC.

could be a double edge sword opening up your prime recruiting areas to the SEC

maybe its more accurate to say Beamer has maxed out.

currently or ever? Because they used to say that about South Carolina and 10 years ago a guy like Clowney would have gone to Clemson, Tennessee or Georgia. Times can and do change.

o he has but then giving the SEC free roam in your back yard is not going to help. VA HS football talent was a huge secret for years.

2012 signees

#2, #4, #5, #6, #9, #10

Don't let facts get in the way. The problem has always been in the Top 10, you lose two to Alabama and a Stanford.

2013 is a strange year in VA, but we are still in for #1, and have commits from #7, #8, #9

But you have players going to Alabama, Stanford, Florida, ND, FSU, etc..

Then again, we got Fuller out of MD and the kid from GA we really wanted

First of if you think coaches and scouts weren't aware of Va HS football talent.

2nd, other SEC teams still can only sign 85/25, so if they get a Va player, then there is someone else they can't get

Last why do you assume the door only goes 1 way? If VT is in the SEC, kids could stay home and play in the SEC and or VT could recruit in other states.

You just assuming VT will go down sounds like wishful think of a rival.

Joel Caleb

only 7 4 stars that year in VA which is rare
but not sure what site you are basing it off of after that.

well look at the NFL talent from VA and what schools they came from. VT,UVA,Penn State and WVU until the last 5 or 6 years

thats why i said double edge sword they might bite off more than they can chew. Its not like Mizzou in the SEC or WVU in the Big 12 neither school has the same recruiting base as VT but all they did was help theirs get better.

I bet 80-90% of Louisiana players in the NFL are from LSU, some other state school or 3 or 4 near by state schools.

That's why I think VT will be better off certainly than Mizzo, between Va and Penn I'd think WVU will be ok, they at least have some history and can recruit Texas.

yep, who they hire will be important, regardless of what conference they are in. But I'd think it will be a desirable job.

This is a tough spot for the pac 12 to be in because there's nobody out there worth adding

The Pac 12 is in the position of having to "invest" in nearby programs that are not currently up to their standards. I said this before and got hammered, but I think it's still true.

Schools like Nevada and New Mexico. Pac 12 money would help those schools immensely, both athletically and academically. Both would give the Pac 12 a new state, while retaining the regional footprint.

If you think about it, both Utah and Colorado were not that far above Nevada and New Mexico in terms of athletic success. Especially Colorado, which is several years away from being competitive in any sport.
