Didn't the A's have 4 guys over 15 wins in 89?

I know Welch Moore and Stewart were, but wasn't sure about Storm Davis. Think their throwaway starter was Curt Young.

Dude, not even close. They are very underrated and were a lethal rotation that season though. Duque out of the pen in the playoffs was awesome.

2018 Astros. These 5 made 152/162 starts and 3 guys went over 200 innings.

Verlander
Cole
Keuchel
Morton
McCullers

It wasn't hard to beat in the post season!

Randy Johnson & Curt Schilling era Diamondbacks get a nod just for the peak of those two and that WS Title run. I don’t even remember who the no.3-no.5 guys were.

2016 Cubs Rotation had a surprisingly good WAR (19.1).

Lester
Arrieta
Hendricks
Lackey
Jason Hammel

Not the best ever, but it was interesting to compare them to the others listed.

This is a great baseball thread.

And don't think I've seen a single Yankees staff mentioned.

Maddox, Smoltz, Glavine, and Avery was legit.

But I have to go with the often forgotten 1969 Baltimore Orioles, FOUR 20 game winners in one year: Palmer, McNally, Cuellar, and Dobson.

Here are the best starting rotations of all time sorted by ERA-(ERA as it relates to the average ERA that year, so it adjust for the era in which they played)

These threads always dissolve into Braves bashing. But the Blue Jays had a better rotation in 92 and 93. They were super deep..

Only 1 ring.

That's my point. People always say one ring. The Braves had a good rotation and a couple of good hitters. They were never the most talented team in the league. They were lucky to get one.

First, we’ll use Spahn,
Then we’ll use Sain,
Then an off day,
Followed by rain.

Back will come Spahn
Followed by Sain
And followed,
We Hope,
By two days of rain.

It worked until the World Series where they met the Indians with Bob Feller, Bob Lemon, and Satchel Paige. Indians would add a 4th HOF pitcher Early Wynn the following year.

In 1980 they had Niekro, Ryan, and Richard in the starting rotation and Andujar and Dave Smith in the bullpen.

Much more evenly matched in 92’, but no way in 93’ when maddux got there
