Jerry West averaged a career 27.0 pts/g and was always overshadowed by Elgin Baylor, and then later by both Baylor and Chamberlain.

Seems like I recall Toni Kukoc getting the ball with those games on the line.

KJ was the best on the Suns before Charles arrived.

Kemp clearly had a window where he was the best player on the Sonics (he was arguably the best player on the court in the finals they lost to the Bulls)

Drexler was the best player on Portland in the 90s

Baylor and West are debatable but both probably had seasons when they were their teams best players

I don’t see Kukoc getting any MVP votes those years
Or on any All NBA Teams

It was a joke. kind of. Because this did happen and Pippin pouted about it for a while. I think that might have even had a lot to do with him leaving Chicago at the end of his career.

No worries, young fella. The Toni Kukoc Bulls years were kinda interesting because he came from Europe and was considered the best European player ever. MJ and Pippin totally ate his lunch at every scrimmage just to keep him in his place.

Pippin was an incredible defensive player (as was MJ) and I think they held Kukoc scoreless in his first scrimmage to welcome him the the Bulls.
