in swla Jennings, Iowa and Westlake all have good atmospheres and when one of them is rolling, they can be great atmospheres, especially for the playoffs.

Played in Iowa for the playoffs in 03.. it was exactly like you’re saying

We froze our asses off, it was so windy but the atmosphere was crazy

Jewel Sumner was pretty cool too from what I remember. Small town in the middle of the woods. Franklinton as well

This year's Catholic league (9-5A):

Brother Martin
Edna Karr
Holy Cross
Jesuit
John Curtis
Rummel
St. Aug

I forgot Karr was moving into the CL

Brutal district!

Think of all the state championships these schools have.

They should change the name from the Catholic League to the Champions League.

4-5A, Baton Rouge, is an absolute gauntlet. The Catholic League is always a fun time in New Orleans. 3-5A is a big district that will likely be top heavy, but features three veer teams...well one is flex-bone. 4-4A, Lafayette, will be very interesting. For smaller schools you need to go with 1-3A(Monroe), 5-1A(SWLA), and 6-1A(St. Landry Parish) in terms of competiveness and solid football.

Thompson HS in the Birmingham metro is somewhere between a HS and D3 team. Their backup QB is a young guy they recruited out of Colorado. In this region, you have Hoover High which has 3000 students and Trussville who also recruits better than Ole Miss.

I'm very interested to see how Karr does this year.

They asked to be in the Catholic League. That takes balls. I like it.

I imagine it will take some adjustment. I could see them going 2-4 or 3-3 this year in district.

They’ll win that district easily. Karr is much better than the rest of the teams in that district. Jesuit or BM may be good every few years or so, but they aren’t the same powerhouses they were before.

I don’t know if St. Amant fits this category, but the atmosphere at The Pit on Friday nights is tough to beat, especially for a big game against EA or Dutchtown. Fans are right on top of you, we shoot off a cannon that scares everyone on the visitors side, can be intimidating. Band and student section are on the away side, not much room for visiting fans. Could be even more intimidating if we started to really commit to making the football program better. But it’s got that old school, small town vibe, that everyone loves about high school football.

why would it take adjusting to beating the hell out of new teams

yall are in denial about how good karr is.

i mean curtis can and will beat them 50% of the time and st aug and rummel can compete every few years...but karr or curtis is going to win that district 8 out of 10 times.

Central isn't in the same district as Zachary, Live Oak, Denham Springs, and Walker? Not sure why I thought those were all in a district together.

They reshuffled the districts in the offseason. Now I think they put all the LP and AP schools in a district and all the EBRs in a district. Probably good because I think Zachary and Catholic were just rolling those schools every year.

I've seen some people say that Karr is the overall number one team in the state this year. I think they will roll a lot of Catholic league schools.

People said the same thing when Curtis joined the league.

Like Curtis, theyll hold their own, but theyre not ‘rolling’ Jesuit, Rummel, BM, and StAug

curtis has been down for a couple years now but they will be back up and will start rolling the catholic league along with Karr and Karr is way better than curtis currently. Curtis just isnt getting the athletes they were. Currently Karr is. and yes they will roll jesuit, rummel, bm and st aug. Now this year...maybe not as BM and Jesuit have really good teams teams returning, same with St Aug. But if Karr gets the talent they have had last 5 years or so, they will roll the catholic league.

i will admit that league is frickign stacked all the way around right now.

Curtis hasn't won a Catholic League district since 2018.
