popovich - as star filled as the NBA is, the guy constantly drafts well, develops players, and straight up wins. Ugly wins, and boring play, but he still wins it all.
Consistency throughout the last decade and some, even without his best players at times he still gets his team far because of how well he coaches the team as a whole. Every player knows their role and he gets the best out of them.
Even without duncan playing many games, who is at the tail end of his career even though he produces on both ends of the floor still, he has the best NBA record as of today. All of his superstars are dinosaurs, but how does the team win? That's because of good coaching.
This is the correct answer.

Izzo is an incredible game coach but his recruiting really trails behind some of the upper tier coaches in college ball, and recruiting is such an important aspect of coaching in college.

Popavitch is the name that first came to mind, but I'd like to see him do it somewhere else just to make it clear that it's him and not the GM/Organization. Saban would be my second choice just for the fact that he has done it at 2 places.

Saban has to rank below Belichik IMO.
I would agree Izzo or Coach K in NCAA.
Pop definitely tops in NBA.

PJ do I need to include current for your old arse?

In a major sport, I think it's Pop. In an under the radar sport, I think it's either Pat Henry or Cael Sanderson. Honorable mention to Auriemma and the Penn State volleyball coach.
