Talking with friends over the weekend. Really tough question and still thinking through. Was surprised how heavily current players came to mind.

1 - Curry
2 - Jordan*
3 - Durant*
4 - Davis
5 - Shaq*

*players I am sure I’d want in my all time starting 5

Curry’s size is only thing that makes me worry about him vs other lineups but he is such an incredible shooter with great handle and intelligence give me confidence he’s the right PG - others considered: Pippen, Kobe

Davis is still young and physical/mental toughness still a little unproven but size, length, skill is remarkable - others considered: Duncan, Olajuwon, Garnett

Look forward to interesting discussion.

Caveat - no Lebron teams allowed. Great player but just too polarizing and will dumb the conversation down too much. Thanks.

Davis has not unseated Timmy yet.

Love Davis but including him on this list is homerism run amok.

Also, 3 current players = recency bias.

This is dumb and will cause you more problems than just not mentioning Lebron at all and letting people pick their teams.

1 Magic
2 Jordan
3 LeBron (screw your rule)
4 Tim Duncan
5 Kareem

edit: I guess since I've already got LeBron, I could sub Magic for Curry so I have a shooter also

Stockton would always be my starter at guard. The man knows how to run an offense and create opportunities for the other scorers to do what they do best. You can’t have five players all fixated on scoring.

My unstoppable 5 would be:

1. Stockton
2. Jordan
3. Durant
4. Malone
5. Shaq

Magic or CP3
Kobe
Lebron
Duncan
Hakeem

1. Magic
2. Jordan
3. Dr. J/Bird
4. Duncan
5. Kareem

My list would destroy your list. You have a ton of recency bias in there

Surprised myself with the recency bias. Davis clearly biggest reach but still a remarkable talent.

That said,...Go ahead and post your 5 big boy.

Curry
Thompson
Durant
Green
Davis

We're running non-stop. Good luck.

ETA: Obviously these aren't the best 5 players to ever play, but I'm more interested in fit than talent.

Curry shouldn't even sniff your top 5

Isaiah Thomas
Jordan
Durant
Kobe
Shaq

All are Top 5 defenders to go along with their scoring prowess.

Starting 5:

PG - Nash
SG - West
SF - Bird
PF - Dirk
C - Walton

Bench:
PG - Stockton
SG - Maravich
SF - Barry
PF - McHale
C - Mikan

final 2 are Mullin and Hondo

We taking out anyone.

Having a bigger problem with Curry in the top 5 than Anthony Davis is absurd.

I wouldn't have Davis in over Duncan, Malone or Olajuwon.

I'd even have a hard time putting Shaq in there in front of Kareem.
