Interesting: Ben Roethlisberger said the Steelers were still deciding whether to call time-out after that huge JuJu Smith-Schuster gain at the end of the Pats game, but ref Tony Corrente assumed he was - and whistled it.

There is video of him frantically calling timeout down the field

quote:

Ben Roethlisberger says Steelers had just one play ready to go after that Jesse James TD was overturned: "I wish we would've called two plays. I wish we had two plays ready to go."

TODD HALEY YOU DID THIS

quote:

Ben Roethlisberger says "I'll take the blame for the INT at the end of the game." Says in hindsight, he should've listened to himself and not the coaches, and just spike the ball as he wanted to - and as his teammates expected.

Why did I listen to my stupid coaches and not go with what I REALLY wanted to do??

He's a 2x SB champ. He can spike shite if he wants. He's blaming himself for not taking control and instead, throwing a dumb INT.

What's so dumb about that one, is that let's say the coaches did tell him to fake spike it or whatever (which I don't believe), once you see that the pats have snuffed it out and half his team didn't move on the snap....throw it out of bounds

Just because they say spike it, doesnt mean you cannot audible out of it.

He took blame for the INT. But he should bitch about the coaching decisions. The fact they didn’t have two plays prepared during the catch review basically is all you need to know. That’s entirely on Haley and Tomlin.

Nor does it mean you have to throw it into triple coverage right in the middle of the field.

I will say though, not having 2 plays ready after that lengthy pause for review is pretty pathetic coaching on Tomlin's part.

1.) Ben had plenty of time to remind them that they should have 2 plays. That's on both of them. It's Bens offense at the end of the day.

2.) you're the leader of the team, right after an emotional loss is not the best time to start throwing blame on your coaches.

Anyone who has watched the Steelers over the past decade knew that fake spike play was coming, including the Pats' defense.

That's horrendous they didn't have two plays available during that long review.

That being said, forcing that fake spike throw is completely on him. That was one of the worst decisions I have ever seen.

Don’t agree with this at all. Ben isn’t paid to call plays.

frick that. Throw Todd Haley under the bus and then back up over him a few times. Guys an egomaniac a-hole.

He's been a franchise QB for 10 plus years. Part of your job is to have full control of your offense and that situation.

And yeah people make mistakes, but if you make it, own up to it.

You still have everything to play for for the next 2 months. You wanna cause a rift between players and coaches in December?

It’s widely known that Ben and Todd don’t like each other. They’ve been taking shots at each other for years. This isn’t new.

Ben fuked up and got greedy. if this happened early in the season i have no problem with the fake spike. But its week 15 and this game will decide home field advantage, you do not do a fake spike in this situation plain and simple. Wether the fake spike came from the bench or Ben did it on his own who cares but you dont do a fake spike with home field on the line. You spike it kick the FG and take your chances in OT.

Say it ain't so. I would have NEVER thought Ben R was anything but a fine upstanding christian boy who supports his teammates and opens doors for women

All of this is moot is the James TD stands, as it should have.

Romo was saying he was going to throw a fade to the WR on the right side who had 1 on 1 coverage. Would have been the perfect play. If it was incomplete, stops the clock, kick it and go to OT
