I'm told personnel around the league are discussing their awareness that some Owners have been told #Lions OC Ben Johnson's asking price is at least or around $15M/year for a head coach job, per source.

Exactly

How do you know you can't make $15 mil/year if you don't ask for it first?

Never heard of him. When I saw the name I was wondering when a Canadian sprinter became a football coach.

They all aren't public info, but from I can see from a quick search it looks like Belicheck is at $20M or $25M, Payton is at $18M, Carroll/McVay are each at $15M, Shanahan is at $14M, Tomlin & Harbaugh are at $12M.

But good for him making demands like this. He may never get that type of 1st year money unless he hits a bunch of incentives; but he may also keep the notoriously cheap teams away from wasting his time.

Belichick makes over 20, Payton makes like 18. 15 would put Johnson in the top 5. He's the most in demand name on the market so I don't see the problem with setting his price high especially when someone like Tepper would do it to make his unattractive job opening attractive.

He probably has a handful of teams that he would jump at the opportunity to coach for them for half that amount.

He probably also has a handful of teams that he wants to avoid, unless they throw out a ridiculous salary of $15 million.

The majority of teams are somewhere in the middle.

He's a coach not a draft pick. He doesn't have to scare teams away. He get's to pick his next team

Making some pretty high demands for a dude who got his gold medals stripped from him for cheating. He stole from Carl Lewis.
