It is an interesting argument that someone can sign a contract and basically be out 9 months of every year during it.

They traded her. So she's still employed with the WNBA, just in another city. And likely making comparable pay.
If I recall correctly, the Aces also got dinged for manipulating the cap. I'm curious if the manipulation happened because they're having to pay a player for 9 months to stay home pregnant for the second time in two years and they had to try to find someone of comparable talent to fill her spot.
