Explain who the thugs are. List the NBA players that always get into trouble. I hope you know college football and NFL is FULL of thugs too. Waaaaay more thugs and they're waaaay more violent.

eta: There are some real gems in this thread.

I bet they haven't figured out the shot clock is 24 seconds in the NBA. Then it takes almost 10sec to get the ball over half court. Not much time to sit back and run a lot of plays.

I promise you if college basketball went to a 24 sec shot clock, they'd look just like the NBA.

Defense is played...they say d only in playoffs but it isn't like teams go from scoring 150 to 80...they.score about the same as in reg season.

Also...it may sometimes look like no d because shots being made, but it is the best in the world taking those shots.

Very very rarely is the 4th quarter of a NBA game not played all out even in reg season.I will concede sometimes first 3 can be slow against shitty team and one team sleep walking..but lsu does that n football every week

Baloo- spacing the NBA is more prevalent than ever. Much more than college ball.College ball has shorter 3pt line and narrower lane- causing for a more clogged game than you think.

I think the college game sucks, too now. The problems start in college and become worse in the pros. I just don't enjoy basketball as much as I did 20 years ago.

Haven't read all 8 pages but I'll add..

NBA players are grossly overpaid compared to NFL players

The playoffs take too long

The first round takes too long for all the favorites to win 95% of the time

The players are too good which makes the refs look like they influence every game with foul calls

Traveling has vanished

The playoffs are too long

Players complain about every call making them annoying little bitches

And the playoffs are too long

I can't stand the officiating. It's like an unwritten rule that the officiating is going to go the home team's way, and it is accepted. I don't accept that, and think it cheapens the game to the point that a lot of times it's not even worth the couple of hours to watch.

It's great if your team is at home, it sucks when they're on the road.

Do players ever complain about pass interference?p. Only diff in complaining is you see reaction on face instead of NFL player had to move his whole body to know he's complaining cause hidden by helmet

When they changed the rule that you can take five steps before you dribble (six if your first name is "LeBron") I seriously started to lose interest.

Of course the game is also a shell of what it used to be anyway. No fundamentals is a pretty accurate assessment of today's product.

hence home court advantage, and why you play 41 home and 41 away, and fight for it in the postseason

Also, the isolation game sucks. It just sucks to watch as it reduces the game to a one on one matchup with the other eight players reduced to witnesses. It's just not interesting to me at all.

The hip-hop culture. Yes, the majority of NFL and college basketball players are black too, but the NBA has made a concerted effort to embrace a culture that turns many middle class, older whites off. From the music played in the arenas to the baggy shorts to the head-to-toe tattoos (not easily seen on NFL players due to the uniform), a lot of white Americans over 35 just don't identify with the product the NBA is selling.

this is what your typical NBA player looks like now

Refusal to interpret the rules correctly. If the rules say you get two steps to the basket, then you get two steps. Why does the NBA break the rules of their own game? Oh yeah, so the players can make more highlight reel dunks by not having to worry about pesky things like actually dribbling the ball from the 3 point line to the goal. Same thing for palming the ball. Ever notice any time an NBA player actually does get called for travelling, he looks like he's been wrongfully accused of murder? Because even he can't believe the rule was enforced.

the NBAs rules on traveling are no different than the college game and the international game

this is, by far, the biggest myth in basketball

Seems there there is a lot of butthurt in this thread because their favorite basketball league just isn't liked as much as they want it to be.

no

these threads pop up every so often and they get lots of defense b/c most arguments against the NBA are 100% wrong or out-dated

1. thug culture. dead
2. don't play by the rules. wrong
3. no effort. wrong
4. no plays. wrong
5. iso baskeball. wrong

if these incorrect arguments pop up, people will come to correct them

arguments that are correct

1. lots of tats (i still don't know how people see them in-game on black people, but whatever. they exist)
2. lots of piped in music
3. lack of parity
4. long season/long playoffs

i think you just like seeing student sections going "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH"

in the time it takes colleges to play 35-40 games, the NBA squeezes in 82, and you wonder why they don't seem as intense

Every time. It's like the last time they watched the NBA, Iverson and Rasheed Wallace were two of the more relevant players (Iverson, ironically, was liked by a lot of white people because of his heart. Hell, my mom new and liked him.) It's been a decade, for God's sake.

i dont care for the NBA all that much, however

1. no defense
2. bad officiating

are simply not true. And if you think that, you know much less about the NBA than you think you do
