Let’s give it up for America’s dead pastime.

lets also add, in many parts of the country, it's hot as frick, and humid as frick, and still posting them big numbers.

busch 3 had their attendance record broke last night. 45k+ last night, and it was miserably hot and humid.

heat ain't shite, add that midwest humidity, and it sucks

I’m of the opinion that there should be double headers every other Saturday during the season. Every team would play one at home and one on the road. It would shorten the season by about a week. And in exchange for losing a few gates, the trade off is that it could be marketed as an event to draw more people and have other attractions happening at the same time with bands playing, etc.

" The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again."

Never bet against the national pastime

Big baseball fan here. It isn't dead, but MLB has major issues with how the average fan consumes the product. They have got to get the blackout issue squared away if they want to maintain their level of support. They also need to get more control around ownership and how shared revenues are used. The Ray's and A's are basically AAAA teams. Rays ownership is straight up trying to hold tax payers hostage and that will only hurt the game.

Cubs v Marlins games at Wrigley have been packed this weekend. It has been an absolute party atmosphere in sweltering 90+ degree heat and humidity and Cubs fans have been totally energized and engaged in the games.

All this support for a last place team. Baseball is not dead, at least not on the North Side of Chicago.

Neat. It’s still firmly rooted behind the NFL and NBA.

NFL, sure, but by what metric is it firmly rooted behind the NBA?
