“I want to call out the Cleveland Cavaliers. I thought what they did to coach Beilein was ridiculous, unprofessional,” Barkley said. “I think the veterans on that team were not leaders. I think the young guys on that team who can’t play think they are better than they are and they tried to get that man fired. They got that man fired ... I’m so disgusted by those players trying to get that man fired.

“John Beilein is a hell of a coach and I think he’s a good guy. But for those players to complain about ‘We’re practicing too hard, we’re watching too much film, we’re running sets we don’t like’ because they stink. Because they stink. I just didn’t think that was fair. When a coach is wrong I’m going to call him out. When players are wrong I’m going to call them out. I’m disgusted by what the Cavaliers did to coach Beilein

N.B.A. players follow the lead of the game’s current biggest star. Players were tough when Michael Jordan was playing and tougher than today when Kobe was playing.

Now they all follow the lead of LeBron and everyone is a total pussy.

He’s not wrong. Beilein might have been a bad fit anyway, but for the Cavs players to act like they are above a ‘college coach’ is ridiculous. They suck.

It's exciting to see the players take control of their league.

I agree with Barkley 100%. What a bunch of losers. They need to put Kevin Love on the first bus out of town and tell him "We'll see you at the 10 year reunion in 2026." I think Love is a huge, huge problem there right now.

MJ got Doug Collins fired. Magic got Paul Westhead fired.

These things happen.

Barkley's off base too. The big issue with the Cavs is their ownership. Gilbert is a mess.

Beilein is a good coach, but not the right hire for the Cavs from the get go. They're years away and need to develop their young guys. That's a symptom of Gilbert.

That's exactly why Beilein was hired. They just rejected him because he wasn't being all buddy buddy with the players.

When you let the players run the league, this is what you get.

JB is going to get paid, good for him, and frick those Cavs players. All Losers, you can't make losers into winners, and JB found that out.

The NBA needs a commissioner with some balls, not the spineless pussy they have now.

Beilein was 67 and had no experience working with NBA players.

I like him as a coach, but this was a major gamble in how he'd adapt. It's not the first time for Gilbert, either. He handpicked Blatt, which also went poorly.

A lot of it has to do with today’s players growing up in the AAU and Transfer culture. They are catered to and worshipped from an early age and if something doesn’t go their way they either change teams or get a new coach. That’s a dangerous way to grow up from a young age and you see the result in today’s NbA. Yesterday’s NBA players earned everything they got. They were rarely crowned from an early age and guys like Jordan and Bird were not crowned at all.

Can't happen quick enough. He must have Joe Vardon on speed dial.

I'm a Cavaliers fan and Barkley is 100% spot on. There have been times this year where Kevin Love has acted like a complete child on the court. He signed the massive deal the Cavaliers gave him and now he wants the Cavs to trade him? Who wants Kevin Love at his current price? He is making 28.94 million this year and 31.25 million the next two seasons. Nobody in their right frame of mind is taking that contract for what his skill set is. So what does he do, acts like a child and helps in getting his coach fired. Tristan Thompson too! He is making 18.54 million this season and also tried forcing his way out. The Cavs have a 19 year old and two 18 year old players. All 3 are extremely talented, but with leadership like that from the Vets on the team, its not hard to see why this isn't working. I feel bad for Beilein. He is a solid coach who got the short end of the stick.

Exactly. Those guys are winners. Lebron ran off Blatt. Are we really gonna compare them to Sexton and an aging Kevin Love?
