To be honest Tampa fricked up keeping their head coach he’s the problem. Shoulda kept the one who went to Jax instead. But Baker is going to give it 100% when he plays. He’s played hurt so many times I’m glad to see him get paid.
And lets not forget, Baker signed a 1 year, $4m prove it contract with Bucs. He bet in himself. Very few players do that these days. He’s never held out. Endured Browns bringing in alleged sexual predator. Only Browns QB in decades to win a playoff game. Went to a shitty and in turmoil Panthers team as his only option due to how late he was cut by Browns, all teams had their QB by then.
He has been thru some stuff and still stayed strong. Also keep in mind Tampa was in cap hell when he got there.

No one has ever just run away with the NFC South even when it has been as shitty as it's been in recent years.
take 2024 for example. Baker had a fantastic season, and they didn't lock up the division until they beat the Saints in Week 18 at home. That was also the year where the wheels fell off on the horrible Dennis Allen era for the Saints.
I'm not hating on Baker, but I think the Bucs are stuck with Bowles, and they've been hiring new OC's for like the last 3 or 4 years. That is not sustainable. They hired the Falcons OC from last year; we'll see how that goes. If the Bucs squeeze out another division win, I don't see them firing Bowles and it's not highly unlikely that it will be the Bucs winning the division.
I think the one team I'm out on the in South this year is the Panthers. They got the first-place schedule for winning the division last year and they have a real tough slate to start.

This deal is bad but not nearly as bad as the deal Miami did with Tua a few years back. Imagine if the NFL didn't have a salary cap like MLB how much money QB's would make a year.
