Until they get it under control, that’s an NFL problem.

At the same time, there’s literally 15-20 people on this entire planet that can do that job at a professional level. He’s one of them.

If the Bucs give Baker Mayfield $40 million per season. They have taken over 1st place as the dumbest f*king owners in the NFL.

I’m fine with Tampa destroying their salary cap on this guy.

I'm interested when the league takes a stand and stops paying borderline top 10 guys huge contracts.

Crazy thing is at $40M/yr he'll be a borderline top 10 highest paid contract amongst QBs. So based on that he would be appropriately compensated.

I don't see him as a long term answer at point guard or QB

Meanwhile Brock Purdy is paid less than QBs still in college. And the 49ers don’t have to do a damn thing for the next 2 years either. Even in the 3rd year they can finally tag him and pay him market values.

Biggest value in sports is a good QB on a rookie deal. Every team should be drafting QBs just in case they find someone that skips thru the cracks

Good for him. He’s a top 15 QB in the NFL. He has earned it.
He should make more than Lamar, Dak, Watson and Jones for sure.

Nah, Jerry and Stephen will show them how it's done, about 60 mil a year for Dak.

There's more money coming into the NFL than ever before. As revenue increases player salaries have to increase as well, they're guaranteed a certain portion of revenue per the CBA. $40m is what $15m was 10 years ago.

That brings up a good point. The issue is the salary cap artificially limits how much you can pay your best players. If Baker is worth $40m a year then you could argue Mahomes is worth at least $80m.

Since there are so few of those elite guys to go around, these teams have to spend their money on someone. The mid-tier NFL players are the ones that benefit most from the salary cap.
